I need to ask.
I would gess that glen doesn't want to be treated like a kid like King's have done time and time again.
When the first engine was damaged by the shipping company on its way back to the States .The compensation was enough to rebuild the engine properly but no to save a couple hundred bucks they put the old pistons back in.
If i was glen i would want a apologie compensation for removing the first engine then fitting a stock one THEN removing again to fit the second built engine using damaged second hand pistons. Then a full refund on top.
I have also dealt with King's Performance and they treat us like sh#t in the uk. My ic pipework didn't fit and when i cut it half to extend it, all i found was unfiled joins where the bits of metal would have gone straight into my engine.
You guy's have no idea what glen has had to put up with on his build

What am I after? Well we could start with the fact that the engine was thrown together both times I got it with their fingers crossed hope it's alright atitude.Clearly it wasn't.
What I'm after?is acknowledgement that that is the case and the blame is taken from myself and my tuner.
What am I after? Perhaps if this is the quality of workmanship on my engine and the same builder has been used for 8 years, then what can other buyers in the last 8 years expect if they look inside their engines.am I just unlucky or have they been lucky.
What do I want? A little respect for the situation I've been put in and the thread turned around to start praising himself for building xfast cars, and this shoddy engine build which to be quite honest if he hadn't have thrown it together as cheap as possible could have been repaired by myself for the same money it's cost me .At least that way I would have a reliable usable car instead of 2 summer seasons without the engine I bought and was assured was good.
What do I want? I want you lot over the to stop acusing me of being ungrateful and well treated by Kings performance when the evidence clearly shows that I have been royally shafted by a cowboy company only out to make a quick buck.
What do I want? I? Off Kings Performance? Nothing, because they have nothing that I can trust.Ive got what I wanted, I've kept my mouth shut foe 4 years and put up with all the crap I've been fed from over there. Now I've got the excuse to expose them for what they are.

THAT'S WHAT I WANT.
You agreed to buy a used race engine in Sept 2011, you received the engine in January 2012. You installed it in mid January of 2012. You continued to tinker with the car and not once turned the engine over until December of 2013. 23 months passed before you turned the motor over. December 17th 2013 you encountered an issue with the motor. Now, 23 months passed since you bought the engine, I don't know another company that would've offered much of any support after that amount of time, but Kings did, good for them.
So, that engine gets shipped back to the States, and in the process a fork lift drives through the block and damages it beyond repair. Not anyone's fault involved except for FedEx. So fast forward to August 2014 when your new engine arrives from Kings. You get it installed in October, you've got it fired up and running in early November, November 26th you're off to your tuner to get it tuned. Since then you'd been driving it around and made no comments or complaints in your build thread about the engine running badly, wonky, crappy, anything negative. We then get to April of this year where you've still been driving the car without issue. Again, I can only base my comments off your posts in your build thread. We now arrive at the now, June of 2015, you're back at the tuner again and something goes wrong whilst tuning the car.
I'll be the first to admit I have zero experience with race motors, fully built drag cars, turbos, superchargers or the like, so I will not comment about that. I'm simply going by what has been posted in your build thread, and the various threads you've recently created about the motors you've had from Kings.
I did find this information rather interesting on Laskey's website. http://www.laskeyracing.com/shop/breakin.htm
Perhaps the best thing to do is to drive it all the way to your trailer and tow it to a competent tuner. In second position on the “things NOT to do list” is trying to break in an un-tuned engine by driving it. Too lean an air/fuel will begin to heat and distort parts, too rich will wash the oil off the cylinders causing premature wear. What is in first place on the “things NOT to do list”? Boost on an un-tuned motor. Within 2 to 3 seconds the pistons and cylinders can be ruined. Well I did put in a new base map or I’m just running off the stock Honda computer. Can’t I drive it like that for a few miles? I’m not even boosting. Well what is the base map? Just someone’s idea of what numbers will start your car. Just an educated guess by someone who does not have a clue what components you are running in your set-up. It’s not intended to drive on for any extended period of time. The same with that stock Honda computer. It could be ok but it could also be dangerously wrong.
So what exactly do I do at the first engine start-up? Pull the spark plugs and crank the motor with your starter for a maximum of 30 seconds or until you see the oil pressure gauge begin to register. Re-install the plugs and wires and fire up that candle. While keeping one eye on the oil pressure gauge, use your other eye to scan for fuel leaks. If there are no fuel leaks, look under the motor for any major oil or coolant leaks. If that is ok, run the engine for 5 to 10 minutes while keeping an eye on the temperature and pressure gauges. Keep the rpm’s between 1000-3000. Shut the engine down and double-check everything. You are now ready for tuning.
But my engine was already tuned from my previous set-up. Well, what happened to your previous set-up? Did you melt a stock piston or crack a cylinder? No problem because now you have forged pistons and sleeves? Wrong. Although you now have stronger components that will take more abuse, you are still not right on your air fuel mixture. Get that thing tuned properly ASAP.
So, you drove around on a freshly built motor (with a fairly hefty turbo) without it being tuned for quite some time before getting it to Gary (your tuner) and that's essentially when it went to sh1t.
Again, I'm posting as an enthusiast here, as I'm trying to follow what's transpired, and am basing this on what little I know, and what I've read. Running the engine without being properly tuned could have caused the damage long before you got the car to the tuner, once at the tuner, the issue became more apparent as you were pushing the motor harder than you had by just driving it.
After reading what I have, and reading through your build thread, I'd have a hard time putting the blame on Kings for the second engine. If I'm wrong, please put me in touch with someone who can explain it better to me. I'm not hear to place blame on Kings, you (Glenn) or anyone else, just going by what has been written here. I am also not the judge, jury, or executioner on this, so please don't think there's much of anything I can do regarding what has transpired.
I certainly feel for you, your build thread is quite impressive and is certainly not something I'd venture into. You've spent a small fortune on your S and it shows, I do wish the end result was more positive, but I suppose that's what can happen when you venture into unknown territory.

Thanks for your i depth reply Sam.
I still think you are missing the point.
The original engine installation was never run in my company,it was oiled and turned over regularly on a spanner. One of the reasons it took so long was that various parts needed to be fabricated in order for the motor to be safe to start up.The car ran perfectly with a supercharger fitted right upto the point I decided to change over to the parts I built off Kings..
Kings sent me a start up map for my Flashpro and after various preparations to be safe......like spinning the engine ever without the plugs fitted untill I got an oil pressure reading on my Defi guage.
Without repeating myself I'll just cut short the rebuilt engine install/ startup.
I had a safe map for the startup but as I have an aftermarket dash with an Air/ fuel mixture monitor.I was told by my tuner that provided it was kept below 1.0 it would be safe and as it was only idling would be fine. The car was then put on a low loader and taken to the tuner......it was never driven untill it had a proper map on it.On initial startup the engine was very noisy and Gary diagnosed it has Piston slap....this was 15 minutes maximum from initial start up.
The issue that everybody seems to miss is the fact that I fitted and treated this as a brand new engine.I had put time money and effort into the install.Kings may or may not have done a full rebuild on this engine but the fact remains that the rebuilt engine was unusable.
It was good of Fernando to rebuild the engine considering the timescale involved but I've still got an unusable engine 4 years 1 rebuild and a total of 1170 easy miles once tuned. The saga still continues.....that's the issue and the time and money still need to be spent on the car with what is in effect a brand new built engine.

Glenn, are you referring to the 1st engine Kings built, or the second? I'm focusing purely on the 2nd engine as that is the one that failed most recently.
I'm purely going by what you've said in your build thread, but you ran the 2nd engine before taking it to Gary the tuner, it is when it was at Gary's for the second time that it had an issue, that was in the last couple weeks.

That's right,I had a startup map only on that engine,so it wasn't driven at all,it was even winched onto the low loader.
If I can talk Gary into giving his professional opinion then I shall do so but as he doesn't have a very high opinion of Fernando( he had a phone conversation with him when the engine first failed) Im not sure he will be bothered to take the time......I don't actually blame him as it is like banging your head against a brick wall, hence the reason I went public with this.
As I have tried to say all along its not actually the fact that the engine has failed,I can live with that it's the total lack of compassion or sympathy for the situation I find myself in,I recieved when I told him about the issues.
As I have said the first thing was to blame me,my tuner, the weather and I'm sure the colour of the socks I was wearing at the time I installed the engine,if he had known what colour they were.
Then he bombarded me with videos of his cars on the dragstrip.....that really helps my situation.
Then he asked me to spend even more money on leak down and compression checks an so forth.
I couldn't care less about Kings performance or what they intend to do or not do,I don't want anything further to do with them.
I quickly need to give you a little of my own background information.....
In the early 80s I built a street legal drag racer,I built it from the ground up with an Essex v6 crank upwards total rebuild,it was running 12 sec 1/4 miles in 1985.I also built a Harris framed Phil Manzano tuned bike with the intention of going for the British land speed record for class which stood at 168 mph at the time.I also built an Egli framed Yoshimura tuned racing bike.Oh! And I built a Baby Greatlakes Sports Biplane, but we wont go into that.
I didn't just "come up the Clyde on a bike", I've been around these things for nearly 40 years,I feel insulted when some stranger who hardly knows me and knows nothing about my past or my mechanical capabilitys judges me in the way he judged me just to make himself and his company look good.
Perfection is only just good enough in what I do.the engine is far from perfection......perfection is the money I paid out for it,which isn't broke or doesn't need rebuilding its just money.

Hang on, you said in your build thread you started it and ran the engine at home before taking it to Gary, but above you've said you hadn't driven it, and it was winched onto the transporter.
Before getting it to Gary, according to this post, you drove the car all day.
You didn't get the car to Gary to be tuned until November 26th. After that, you've said the car is running, and you picked it up December 17th
It's got an mot and insurance,so I went for a bit of bimble in it before I loaded it on the truck.Refined is not a word I would use to describe driving it,it is certainly different from everything else I've ever driven, wether good or bad I will have to wait and see. What is good is the sound of the ram moving the gearstick,it sounds awesome. It was worth the cost just to hear that thing working, what's not so good is the sound of the compressor in the boot. But small things amuse small minds
Although Matty was there and showed me his Motec dash which is a real touch of quality I managed to keep my money in my pocket......only because it isn't a simple job for me to fit it.So when the car goes back for the full boost map Gary and Matt are going to fit my yet to be bought dash, alsoWe are thinking 800 Hp may need a little taming so there is a very strong possibility I coud fit a Race Logic traction control, the Motec Tc is too complicated(read expensive)Kitesurfer is trying to sort me a deal out on one.
You've then driven it a few times since then, one post says you've done 340 miles on it. Another 700 or so miles later, you're on the dyno again at Gary's and that is when you had the latest issue.
Again, I'm only going by what you've posted in your threads. 1140 miles (give or take) without issue on the new engine, you take it back to Gary to be tuned and the engine fails.
I must be missing something here. You ran the car for 1100 miles without issue, yet it at the hands of your tuner, it fails.
Well the car starts up and runs, there doesn't appear to be anything untoward to worry about.I need I quick check to see if there are any leaks then ill run it upto temp.
The 02 seems to be ok but that will need checking when upto temp, then I'll drop the oil out change the filter and put some Mineral running in oil in it.ive taken a video on my phone, if I can work out how ill try to post it up.
I just need to tidy and check everything, put my airpump/tank in place for the Geartronics. Get it on a low loader and get it over to Gary's for a running in map and the paddle shifter fitting.Plus a Mot, then next spring ill put it back on the road, run it in then try putting some serious power down.If nothing breaks in the meantime.

Its not very often I see my car outside in daylight,so allow me to indulge myself.
As you can see Ive washed my hands of it for the moment. Its with Gary now at APT having the bits described above done.
When I get it back it will be even more uncomfortable and difficult to use"Because race car",
I've only just realised what a gawky face the transporter has on it
Im almost embarrassed to think I've spent all day driving it.....
I started out a 4am and got to Gary's shop before he opened at 9.I must be nuts.

Looking good Glen. You need to get an in car video to show us how refined she iso n a drive

Did something actually happen with the motor or was it just decided that it sounded badly so it was no longer ran after that point ? It is not very time consuming to do a compression test. Little longer and more tools required for a leak down but at least you know for sure.
