Default ILP Turbo Install Help..

After getting everything bolted up, I started to fit my intercooler piping and realized that the coupler coming off the compressor side of the turbo (Precision 59-65 bb) is almost touching the manifold..

So now what do I do?? Is there a way to loosen the bolts on the compressor side of the turbo and rotate it a little bit counter clock-wise (if you're standing in front of the car)?? Or any other ideas..

Anyone run into this problem, please let me know..

It will be close no matter what but you can rotate the compessor cover far enough away that you can use some heat wrap and never worry about it.

If you are really handy you can do what I did and add a 90 deg elbow and cut the elbow off the intercooler piping.

Alright thanks

But is it possible to get to the compressor housing bolts with the turbo on the car or do I have to take it all back off?
I can see all of the bolts, but it kinda looks like a PITA..so I'm curious if anyone has been able to do it on the car?

I had my frame notched so the compressor could fit and be rotated a bit more so the coupler wasn't touching. Lasted about 15k miles but it was slowly getting burn't away. I just bought exhaust wrap and covered that side of the manifold to prevent this from happening again.

Yes you can get to all the bolts. I put my cover on after the manifold/turbo were installed in the car.

Get as much clearance as you can. I had my silicone connector heatwraped on my previous ilp setup similar to what you show, but the silicone coupler did wear out over time. Today I would clearly weld a bend to the turbo to get the coupler away from the manifold.

I notched the frame in order for me to be able to get the cover in and out. Still a pain to get in and out but I got so good at it from removing it so many times.

but no matter how much rotated to the left it is, the coupler will fry over time.
What I did was weld an extension of pipe to the the outlet on the compressor housing. This way the coupler was far away from the manifold

My builder put a piece of heat wrap around it and clamped it on.

Alright thanks guys I really appreciate the input.

Down the road I wanted to get everything coated, so when I have to take it all back off I will probably weld a 90* elbow on the turbo..

For right now, I'm going to try to loosen all the compressor housing bolts (6) and see if I can rotate the housing to left enough to get heat wrap on the coupler and I'll probably wrap that part of the manifold as well.
