Really want to get your opinion and some video of the Asura exhaust. I have it as well and the overall quality from the welds to the fitment is second to none in my opinion.

Well made my very first Stainless Steel weld tonight using my little 110V Mig welder with Argon and 308wire. In fact this was the first time I have ever welded with shielding gas. In the past I brazed, stick welded and used the MIG with flux core. I was able to get nearly 100% penetration but the bead is very ugly, just don't laugh.

Looks better than anything I've ever welded with a MIG, and ugly beads are no big deal. Thats why god invented grinders, isnt it?

Yep, I always spend more time grinding than anything else. This does not come off as easy as low carbon steel though.

The sheildinggas setup with other needed items ran me about $150 and now I will be able to make my own exhaust. I think I might try my hand on my old ladies STI next.

Sounds like fun. I can't wait to buy a house just so I can have a good welding setup and start fabricating my own parts.

Yeah, but then you will be struggling to try and fund and and find time to work on your projects and not the house. I took me 3-4 years, to get to the point of doing this again.

I think I can deal with that. It's been almost 6 years since I had a car that I enjoyed driving. (400hp eclipse parted out and then traded in on a brand new mustang GT in april 03, the mustang was then stolen in oct 03)

My friends compared me to buddha the other night at dinner, what with the whole self deprivation thing. I've been dying to get behind the wheel of another fun car, but I'm 31 years old now (well, in 9 days I will be) and priorities are not like they were when I was in my mid 20s.

Planning on getting myself an S2k later this year, I've got to wait till the summer is over, otherwise I'll drive myself completely insane going to work 60 hours a week instead of driving the damn thing...

With the market the way it is now the longer you wait the cheaper it will be. I gave $16K for my car a year ago and I could buy a very nice AP2 now for the same price.

I went without for just over 4 years. I had a 1990 bottle fed Vette with a Lingenfelter 355 and a 1997 TA that was also bottle fed among other things. I sold them a year before I bought my house so I could afford it. I had several bikes but that just did not do it for me. The worst part was that I work with 2 people and in that time they have had:

2002 Blown WS6 TA
2005 STI (Cobb)
2005 Legacy GT (Cobb)
2004 Cobra (Whipple)
2004 Lightning (SCT)
2006 Z06
2007 Z51 Vette (Cam & Headers)
2006 SRT4
2008 M3 SMG
2005 Viper (1 Day then Sold It)
2006 Trailbazer SS
2004 Z06 (Cam & Heads)
2000 Charged WS6

I think you are doing good! I am also tig welding all my stuff. I don't have a mig or stick weld.
