Interesting. My car now has 111k miles on it, and I am looking at FI options. I was worried about blowing the engine, but now I see someone is running turbo on 91k miles.

Is this something I can do? Or should I be building a new engine? CaptKirk, have you had any problems yet? If I run it on the high mileage engine, what should I have done before hand, anything besides a valve adjustment?

How high can I crank the boost on this engine and pump gas? How does that answer change if I still want this to be a daily driver (~50 miles/day) ?
From what i've gathered on my motor, as long as proper maintenance has been done on the motor, and it is in good condition, you should be able to go FI. You should obviously be much more careful with your boost level and power level you want, but it should still be doable.

I would suggest also doing compression and leakdown tests to make sure that the motor is in a good healthy condition where it can handle the added stress. I would also suggest a thicker headgasket to help reduce the stress on the motor for whatever boost level you go for. Currently I have a 3mm headgasket and im tuned at 12 psi and everything seems to be going well with the motor. I did a compression test a few weeks ago and results looked good.

As far as daily driving, I don't need to drive more than ~3-5 miles a day on a normal day, so I don't even take my S for the drive. Other than that, I drive my car everywhere. I think I have close to 6,000 miles on the car after getting the turbo kit and so far so good (thank God, :knockonwood: ). You just have to be smart about it. I enjoy the car, but I don't drive at redline with WOT most of the time. I push it hard when I want to, but most of the time I'm driving very calmly so that helps with the longevity. ~50 miles a day shouldn't be a problem at all as long as you're not in full boost for like 48 of those 50 miles.

What HP are you making now at 12lbs?

Thanks CaptKirk, that's very encouraging as I certainly have taken good care of the motor. Sounds like it would still be a good investment to get another daily river or at least a backup ride for when something does go wrong.

What about another S, exact same color and year? Then I only have to pay insurance once right?

Yea if thats the case you should be alright with a nice conservative tune on reasonable boost. That is assuming that results from your leakdown and compression tests are good.

And yea, having a beater car is never a bad idea whenever you do something this major to your car. You never know when something small might prevent you from driving the car until you get it fixed, so a backup is always good.

And I've thought about having a 2nd S2000 that loosk exactly like my current s2000 as a beater So whether youre driving the turbo S or the NA S, people around your area won't mess with you cuz they won't know which car it is
