Hehe. A guarantee for performance mechanic work is like a Christmas miracle. Works in movies but not often in real life. I am sure some give a warrantee but it's usually very limited and most shops look for a reason of the failure to not be there fault.

Depends what sort of work you're having done. Work on an engine already built by someone else is very different to someone putting together a motor from ground up. I've been refunded before for an engine that had an assembly problem that made it lunch itself later on, but the guy did both the rebuild and the mapping.

The guy building my engine builds Gary's time attack Evo's which are 800+hp,so bearing that in mind and knowing the type of person Gary is makes me feel comfortable about leaving it for him to sort for me.

The biggest issue as we all know is the quality of the components, with a Turbo engine it's more about the strength you build into the engine rather than any kind of tuning. The blower and fuel pumps, injectors, Bov's and stuff like that is all pretty standard parts which are pretty much tried and tested.

The final step is the map/tune,whatever my goals Gary will only put a safe map on the car rather that a last ounce of power map. It's well capable of producing more power safely than the car can use on the road so no pressure on extracting the last 10th of a second out of it.

Thats my thinking anyway.Everything going in the engine is either oem if it's fit for purpose or the best that's available.....nothing has been bought because it's cheaper.

Um the quality of the components is just part of it. How it's assembled, clearance, and tuned are also seriously important.

I completely agree,I kind of hinted at that when I said about Gary's engine builder.I could quite easily build the engine myself but would doubt my ability get the clearances spot on.Or Alternatively I could Let Kings Performance build it again.....that way I could sure it would be thrown together with no regard for its future use.

Bump,it nearly got out of sight again. The only thing stopping the rebuild from going ahead here is the lack of availability of the Fullblown headstuds.

Is it right that fullblown head studs are actually re-branded? I wonder if it will be any quicker going streight to the manufacturers? Just a thought

I've got Arp studs now,the Fullblown ones are larger diameter so needs the block and head machining to take them.Bernard at Jjautowerks is on the case so if they can be gotten elsewhere he'll sort it I'm sure.
