The ap2 at 8,500 rpm has the same piston speed as an ap1 at 9,000 rpm. With aftermarket rods/pistons/valve train 9,500+rpm should not be a problems for an ap2. I know the build inline pro 2.4 f24's rev to 9,000 rpm with out issues and that has some crazy high piston speeds.
