For what its worth, I used Chinese turbos on my last two motorcycles projects. They have been durable so far. Both are T04 clones.

A vast number of production cars use TO4s as OEM. Many are old enough to have had the turbos replaced, more likely than not with Chinese turbos. I Googled around and didn't find any substantial reports of the T04 clones failing early. And thats why I choose to use $180 turbos.

Been using Garrett since my H22a turbo build. I won't look anywhere else for turbos.

precision turbos and theyre customer service is junk....i would never ever run a precision turbo unless they got back with garrett....as far as ebay turbo kits i cant say theyre good or bad because i personally have never used them however i do know ppl that went the cheap route and bought a ebay turbo kit, it didnt last too long. i guess u were one of the lucky few who got a good turbo?
The real problem with eBay turbo kits are the wastegates, and blow off valves. I would never use either one.

One of the lucky few I guess so. But comparing a Chinese made turbo to a precision is more of my point lol. I've personally known more precision turbo owners having issues. But more people buy them. I have never ordered one have gotten them second hand. But with them being smaller they got abused a whole lot more in my civics. My 6266 on a built motor spun radials lol. Car pulled to hard to be driven like a 12 psi 50 trim lol.

I'm only attempting to discuss turbos specifically. As honestly I plan on selling my precision in the near future. Manifolds can be another thread lol.

I more or less am just bitching bc my eBay ones have been better quality than my personal precision experience. I have a friend that snapped his turbine shaft first pass at the drag strip. Precision said "starving from oil" lol. It's a honda we run restrictors, Hondas don't starve turbos if everything's installed correctly and your oil pump works...

Man, how awful to have Chinese eBay-brand products praised higher than a true name-brand. If I were an engineer at Precision I would feel so ashamed, lol.

I have seen too many horror stories to trust precision, that being said my garrett never gave me an issue in the 15k I put on it, I really havnt put a lot of miles on my borgs yet so I cant personaly claim they are relilable but I doubt I'll have an issue

I wouldn't use an ebay turbo in my car, but I guess to each his own. I'm not defending Precision, I know their lack of quality control management allows a lot of crap to slip through to the public. I like Garrett, and I've read good things about Borg as well. I just don't see $150 turbo performing as well, or lasting as long as either of those brands. Both are used by many OEM manufacturers.

I have only used Garrett so I really can't say one way or the other which is better. I have had a few friends, However, that have had trouble with precision turbos.
