my brother has been running an evo 3 16g on his dsm for 5 years now. its still going strong at 26psi. the car pulls hard!
my other brother also ran an evo 3 on his dsm because we had great success on the other car. it blew up after 10 runs at 30psi. im not kidding when i say it blew up.lol

honestly its hit or miss but i would not cheap out on a car like a s2000. thats why i bought a garrett. but i think ebay has great intercoolers and pipe kits.

Last time I checked ebay didn't make turbos.

In the midst of my reply I realize instead of paying $400 for mine to be rebuilt, I should've ordered 2 Chinese turbos... If I didn't just have mine retuned I would've been ordering a new turbo instead.

Intercooler cores for lower HP level don't really matter, there is more nerdy science shit involved though. No matter what any company says piping is piping.

This is my point exactly, people have such good results out of some eBay turbos they buy. But that's going to be lower horsepower that I'd trust.

Saw a bunch of China turbos fail 5 years ago, one cracked the compressor housing at 14psi and fell to the ground. One failed at start up, had a plastic pipe around the shaft instead of bearings... The other ones blew cause they weren´t balanced and the shafts broke. BUT, this is 5 years ago, I bet they are better now.

We have a company called Turbo Bandit over here and they use China turbos as base and change to better bearings/balance, people use them and like them, Also an option but will probably end up at Garrett cost in the end.

The Precisions I´ve used all failed fast, bearing problems and smoke. Will never buy one again.

That's why those cheap chinese turbos still carry such a bad reputation. Honestly I thought about just ordering one close to the size of my precision 6766, and swapping the wheels and housing using the cartridge from the chinese turbo and having it balanced. Performance from a Precision turbo, and reliability from an ebay turbo.

Someone said something about bigger shops or such still using Precision turbos. Ask the smaller shops that tune cars about what they've seen with precision turbos on the dyno. I ALMOST bought a comp turbo before my Si was tuned, I was scared it was going to blow up on the dyno... lol.

It's sad as far as s2000's are concerned on the dyno the real thing we have to worry about is the turbos blowing up. God knows the Precision will let go a lot faster than an f20

I think a good alternative to the people that have problems with the precision jb stuff is sending it to pure turbos and having them put in their bearings, and they even make their own billet wheels and offer a 1 year warrantee on them as well, might be a decent option to get rid of the problems with the precision bearings failing but I've never had them do work for me.

Personally I've had more problems with garret DBB turbos than with precision stuff. I had a gt3071r eat itself, but it had unknown mileage, so I sent it to ATP for a new center section. 900 dollars later the Turbo lasted 500 miles before it seized up after I got it back and they told me to eat a dick. I had a 3076r fail as well and after that I stop using Garrett stuff. I did have good luck with a 4088r tho, but way too laggy for the power it supported. I have had decent luck with Garrett journal bearing stuff

This is just my experience I honestly don't think Garrett stuff is bad I just had bad luck with them and for the price I would rather run precision or turbonetics for less and because I haven't had problems with them

I have quite a few friends that have had 1000+ hp cars running cxracing intercooler cores. They do the job well. I would make sure you get 3" end tanks because the 2.5" are more like 2 1/4

I don't..... just bought a brand new pte 6266 jb. Haven't mounted it yet.

"Supposedly" The BB units see less failures, the JB units.....not so much.
Yeah I feel much better now, thanks.

I'm gonna try the pte 6266 jb anyway. I allready have it, so we'll see.

Too bad no one told me this earlier. Pang (pfab) recommanded this turbo for me, and lots of people had good experience with precision.. so I bought it.
Now everybody has something bad to say about precision.

Their radiators are pretty good. I've had 2 of them with their full shrouds and fans. The fans work well too. It was only like 250$ for everything Lol

In theory the 6266 is a good turbo

The 6266 is a bad bitch, on my built lsv it put in work. But that motor made 220 on its own lol.

Precision turbos hands down make the most power. Just don't last :/ I love the power my 6766 makes. But Go-Autoworks offers a custom 6468 turbonetics turbo I will be buying soon
