I'm bummed that my car won't be back together by then; otherwise, I'd likely head down there as well. At this rate, I'm hoping to have the car back on the road by the next Skyline cruise lol

Aww man. Yea the date of approaching quickly. I'm really hoping to get everything done soon enough to get some miles on the setup, and I will be gone for a week (two weekends) for work.

I drove several when SC'd, longest with the turbo has been about 2 hours. I usually carry small amount of tools, duck tape or duct tape, coolant and some oil. BUT, mentioned above is the best thing of all to have with you at all times...AAA. I have the AAA plus account on all my cars...free towing for 100 miles; don't think I will ever be farther than that away from some assistance. Hope you guys have fun, and you will not find the drunks and idiots in February like you do in June - August...right now you will have to get all the old farts out of your way, as they are on their way to the golf course.

If you maintain it properly and have proper heat management you should be good to go.
I believe this to be true.

Bring:
Tool bag (wrenches, ratchets, sockets, screwdrivers) - illestrolla mentioned extra nut & bolts
Gallon of coolant or (distilled) water
Couple of qts of oil
Mechanic gloves (in case you have to touch hot parts)
Duct tape
Make sure you have AAA

You'll be fine and every stop for gas make sure you pop the hood and give it a once-over.
This is a good summary, and more or less spot on what I brought with me on the trip I had to Germany. With this you have a good chance to fix small problems by yourself along the road, and if you can't fix - call towing..

All you guys have the right idea for bringing tools and etc.. However, make sure you pull over too let the car and manifold and turbo cool off. Our boosted cars get a lil extra hot. Iat's will get as well on long trips guys. Don't forget a spare tire since i know alot of us removed it.

I usually just bring a tool bag of standard wrenches/ratchets/extensions, sockets, allen keys, socket allens, electrical tape, wiring/connectors, breaker bar, fix-a-flat w/ plug, 4 spark plugs, QT of oil (if it's anything more than needing a quart you should probably stop driving Lol) maybe some locktight/thread paste. scissor jack

wheel degreaser/tire shine, rags

some SIQ BEATZ

things i try not to do: race, burnouts, launches, going WOT (but that's hard sometimes)

what i worry about most is locking my keys in my car Lol

Joe, i still bring my car to Carlisle and i'm sure you know how that is

Pull over to let the turbo and manifold cool down? I dont think so. If you have to do that then there is something wrong with your turbo setup. If your water temps start to climb then your cooling system is not up to par. Same goes with the oil temp. Generally all turbo s2000 really should have a large oil cooler unless it's a drag car. A proper turbo setup with proper heat management in the engine bay with a proper cooling system and a proper tune should run and be just as reliable as a stock car.

I think he means to leave the car running for a few minutes to let the oil cool and circulate through the (hot) turbo after a long drive at highway speeds.

If you've got decent cooling and mostly v-bands, you should be okay. Bolted exhaust connections tend to work their way loose. I've had wastegates and exhausts fall off, but I've also done 8+ hour drives without any problems. So long as you've done a few 1 hr + trips with no problems and have 2k + miles on your setup without problems, you should be fine.
