Looking for R200 rear (Z32)
Blew my rear (huh? ) last week: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...&f=22&t=443179
The InlinePro kit seems nice, but all that dough and you still need to add in the cost of an R200 rear. Figured I'd post here, since this forum is where the power (and rear breakage) is likely to be found.
Looking at a few options:
1) Just getting a complete R200 Z32 unit from a bone yard and installing it, as is (approx $400-$500 from reputable sources).
2) Getting a complete unit and having someone (any recommendations?) tear it down and replace bearings, seals, etc......... BTW, does anyone have an idea on cost estimate to R&R the Z32 diff, with the assumption that only maintenance parts (and bearings) need to be replaced, all gears including R&P in good shape?.
3) Buy an R200 rear which contains a diff with known issues (cost perhaps a couple bills), purchase a Kaaz diff, have the diff installed, and the original (or new) R&P set installed................... basically a "new" R200 rear is what I'm talking about here.
Updated 1/17/06: Have rear. Thanks for responses.
Looking for links to other forums and/or bone yards and/or shops which "know their way around" R200 Z32 LSD rears.
Appreciate you time,
Mark

I suggest you get one for as cheap as you can find, have it rebuilt with new seals and bearings, and put a Kaaz or ATS LSD in it. And make sure you get one with the 5 bolt output flanges.

How did you blow it?
At some point I shocked it enough to crack the std OEM caps, allowing the Torsen bearing to shift........... the Comptech caps kept things from totally grenading, I suppose........... but once the Torsen bearing had slop, it was a matter of time before the R&P was going to fail............. This is all surmized after taking the cover off the diff and examining:
