Lost my V Tec
Im running a comptech kit and lost my v tec. I bench tested the solenoid it it open and closes, I can run brake parts cleaner through it. The screen is clean but noticed there is another screen on the back side of the compteck bracket that I can't see. Could that screen be plugged or is likely something else.
Thanks
Thanks
I checked the other screen its clean. I don't have an oil pressure gauge but the motor is not old, so I'm pretty sure its not that. I run a k pro and the pressure sensor is disabled, it has been as long as I've had the car and v ted did work when I got it. If i jump 12 volts on the solenoid while revving 4k it doesn't change over.
Im having same issues right now I got turbo instead and AEM V1 car was working fine before turbo now it wont go into vtec . Installed oil pressure gauge it shows 20 psi at idle when hot, and 63 at 3k and 80 psi at 4k i think
Install oil pressure gauge its not that hard, plus it will be useful in future

It doesn't matter what your tune is, Vtec uses oil pressure to mechanically engage, so if your car has low oil pressure for whatever reason (low oil volume or bearings are wearing etc.) then even when it engages in the software, the car wont be able to mechanically engage Vtec.
This is how I discovered that my car had a low oil pressure problem. I have KPro as well, and I would watch the software switch over to the high speed profiles and use the high speed timing and fuel values, however my wideband would show the AFRs going extremely rich and the engine was being overtimed as well probably because Vtec wasn't actually mechanically engaging until the oil pressure rose enough for it to do so.
If you have Kpro, and think its a tuning issue, if you have the means to connect your Kpro up to your computer, you can check your tune and go into the Vtec parameters and figure out what rpms / load settings the tune is set at for Vtec to engage.
