[QUOTE=gotswap,Sep 24 2006, 03:34 PM] You would not have near the heat issues with an Inline kit due to low turbo mounting and manifold design.

Spoolin for me I am just taking precaution, heatshield was easy to make no big deal. do you have vented hood ?, GT1 is odd in that some people have the worse luck and some just able to have it on no problem.

Good example is exclipse, he did great installation the cleanest but the most problematic of them all, break stuff, stuff coming loose, boost creep to 10 psi.

Here's a question did anyone beside exclipe with Gt1 that is running 10psi or more without any issues ?
I don't have a vented hood either.

I'm glad that the map worked out for you! Sorry to hear about the heat issues.

I use aluminum foil tape or the fiberglass/heat reflective tape to wrap anything that might melt. I also like heat shields placed between the piping and anything plastic. Right now, I am reusing the stock heat shield on my S2000. It is directly between the turbine housing/downpipe and the stock fuse box. I feel that one of the keys to keeping everything from melting is airflow through the engine bay.

I have tried turbine blankets on my Monte (no room on the S2000) and felt that the decrease in air circulation through the engine bay caused by the blanket outweighed any benefits of the blanket. In the end, the entire engine bay seemed warmer with the blanket than without it.

Thanks Tim.
My installer is trying to warp everything up and get the shield made. hopefully they will work.
as for the blanket, i noticed a brown burn on the liner from the tubine even with blanket on. maybe a sheet metal shield will work better?

2 hours into the drive to L.a. I pulled over to the gas station to top off. I popped the hood to make sure everything is ok since I have another 3-4 hours of driving. Smoke comes flowing out because the wires by the vtec solenoid were melting on the manifold. This sucks because I'm suppose to get my car tuned monday and I had to turn around and go back home so I can try to fix this problem.

Hopefully the vtec solenoid wire isn't that charred so I don't have to replace it. I even made a heat shield but the heat from underneath is what got it. Plus I have to make a sheat shield for the loom because its starting to melt that some.

If anyone has any other suggestions I'd really appreciate it. I need to wake up early tomorrow and get this fixed so I can start back on my 5-6 hour drive. TIA.

I had my GT1 for a while, I use Kane technique and use the silver heat wrap everything around vtec selenoid. I went for a 5 hour drive with s2k group came back the silver heat shield has heat damage but it does its job.
