Comptech with alot of SoS upgrades and standalone ecu
can your aftercooler keep up?
I hope so, but it does tend to suffer alot of heat soak during the summer. I have seen CT dudes running much more boost than I, but the main difference is fuel... only 91 piss water here >< I am going to look into E85 if and when a station is built around here.

Over 91 Octane...? haha i totally agree, wtf is with 91? why no 93 ugh..........

You have all the magic factors for power loss. 91octane in the high heat. Sounds like you were heat soaked and then tuned to that, chances are its an extreme situation and not the conditions which you encounter most of the year during spirited driving, better to be safe though. A good water/meth kit would do wonders for you.

At the very least you could boost your octane, run a gal or two of meth or alcohol in the gas tank. You likely only need to boost it a few points to prevent detonation where you were timed to before, in the higher heat. I think Joeyballs figured out 2 gal of Toluene from Home Depot to a full tank was worth 99 octane. But that's adding $30 to a tank of gas. Try one, or hell even dumping in a 4 pack of HEAT which is pure meth. $1.37 for one 12oz bottle. 93-94 oct would be an improvement.
Damn you hit it spot on there Junkey! Im alittle moody and my 1/4 jewish blood is kicking in so im in a phase where I dont wana spend any cash right now... but that will change shortly and ill do something extreme for moar power. Already got the 4.2'' pulley good for 11.5 psi, where do you think ID 725s will be good till?

FF header and berk HFC are next on the list, might as well do them all at once.

So no real way to control heat soak in the engine bay to the aftercooler? Are those thermal coatings worth anything or a waste?
725's should support about 425whp with no worries. I don't think you will hit that at just 11.5psi. Maybe 13-14psi

Well it sounds like you already have the larger heat exchanger(i'm still running stock CT size) Do you have the larger pump recommended to go with it?

Not much you can do in stop and go traffic, however when moving, cooling mods make a difference. I added a simple scoop much like the N/A snorkels from the grill to an opening into the engine bay right over the filter which I left exposed (I cut out that side of the plastic radiator plate) I think under the circumstances it works better then being completely enclosed in the factor filter box. Although the box isn't bad if you pull the lid off, becuase the back is still isolated for the header heat, this is all based on the fact that you have fresh air ramming into the engine now via some from of vent/snorkel. I actually want to build a mounting plate to the back of the blower similar to what sideways did, I just haven't got around to it.

We have 92 here in WA. Are you in a higher elevation by chance? I think some of what drives oct ratings is demographics/altitude, the idea being less air, you want a quicker igniting fuel to maintain OEM performance. For us FI guys its bad, means higher detonation tendency.

Walmart in my state sells 4 packs of HEAT for just $5. Rather then $2 each at most auto part stores. Its gas line anti freeze. 100% meth. You can get Xethine? Toluene and Denatured Alcohol in the paint section at Home Depot in 1 gal for $15 if HEAT is not available. But the HEAT is a better deal at Walmart price.

I will look into HEAT, my paramount concern is reliability and after that is established then its balls to the walls for power. What is this plate you speak of that Sideways did?

My intake filter is hanging in the engine bay without the box, so its gulping in hot ass engine bay air and im sure that doesnt help things.

I used to be in Longbeach, but have moved to phoenix az now. 91 octane is the best I can find at the pumps around either place.

Im also going to do something to allow cooler air from the bumper to the intake filter to drop temps afew degrees.

Putting HEAT in your gas tank will up the oct for safety. You will just have to figure out how much you want to get your target oct.

Open filter is fine if you have fresh air directed in from some outside source as I mentioned. sideways has an aluminum divider plate running behind the filter and blower to isolate engine heat. I think Modiction sells something like this for N/A. But with he blower there you have to custom fab it, not too hard considering there is already 3 empty threaded holes on the blower to use(on the NV1000 anyway)Otherwise i'm sure you could use the blower mounting plate bolts.

FYI all its HEET, not HEAT

there are 2 kinds, red & yellow...
I use to mix the yellow with Peak washer fluid when when I ran a AEM meth kit, I was told not to use the red for this purpose because of extra additives it contains.. not sure if the same logic applies when adding straight to gasoline to raise the octane

(HEET) sorry. I still do this and would probably stick to the yellow bottle when putting in the gas, its cheaper anyway!
