so you have a low compression motor w a greddy kit (basically, if manifold and turbo are from the greddy)? 260-270 whp?

When asking myself what boost pressure is safe for a stock engine/HG, I tend to look at what is out there already. For example there are kits with premade tunes running 10psi (kraftwerks), which to me says that 10psi still has some margins on pumpgas.

Then there are several reports of successful setups at much higher pressures, BUT most of them do not involve any long term testing and reliability.
So my advice (which I am following myself) is to go for 10-12psi.
This is what I believe is safe on pumpgas, so to be extra careful I am running E85. (Which is pretty equal to race gas)

The car breaks 400whp at those boostlevels, which to me is more than enough. It's common on these forums to claim an urge for more power once you experience it, but in my case that is pretty much bullshit. Probably some childish addiction to compare penises with other car owners. The car gets scary at higher powerlevels imo.

Hell, I dont even like to drive fast, I'm mostly in it for the custom project itself.

I don't think so, lol.

24lbs for me.

However this was on pump/meth

Kut, or Rob, I'm sure had more boost than I did as they both made over 700whp+.

You guys need to stop speculationg about psi and start having some one on ones with good tuners. There is no magic 'psi' number that blows up stock motors. There are so many variables in any given setup on top of the tune it's running it makes no sense to speculate.

On top of that, I can almost gaurantee if your asking 'how much psi is safe' on an internet forum you're going to blow something up. Ask your tuner, let him set it up and leave it alone. Sometimes I wish you had to have a license to own a boost controller.

This is correct, and a good tuner will prevent any bad tunes causing detonation and such, but there still is the question about engine wear due to higher stress. When you for example start to make double or tripple the design power, shorter lifetime is natural.
And the curve is not linear.

For the OP question about how much the headgasket can handle, it can probably handle shitloads of boost on the right fuel. Doesnt say much about the rest of the engine tho.

I'm seeing ~13.5-14 on my OEM gasket.

Stock C/R:

I'm pushing 11.5 pound through an Aftercooled Novi 1000.
Will do the same with the aftercooled Novi 1500, purely for comparisions, then I'll jump to a 3.0"pulley / 13-14 pound and call it a day.

May end up going E85 / C16 there after, but thats a whole nother world to step into.
