Default Mishimoto Radiator + CTSC = rubbing

I just installed a Mishimoto radiator on Saturday. Since it is thicker than OEM, my OEM passenger side fan shroud is now rubbing my Comptech intake tube for the supercharger. I had previously trimmed the fan shroud, so more trimming is not possible.

Has anyone ran into this same problem?

I am about to order a slim Mishimoto fan, but the wiring is not plug and play and seems like it will become a headache. Also, the way they mount is very strange (universal mounting kit, doesn't use normal mounting spots like old fan).

Do anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I just ordered a 12" slim fan from Mishimoto. Hopefully I can just splice it into the OEM wiring harness and it will work properly.

I too had this problem. I just custom fabbed up a new polished intake tube.

I wish I had the skills and the tools to do that. I contacted Science of Speed, as their intake tube should work perfectly and they say that it is further from the radiator than the Comptech one. Hopefully it's not too expensive.

I received my Mishimoto slim fan last night and it looks to be good quality. It's definitely slim enough to not interfere with my intake tube. I'm going to mess with it tonight and hopefully get it mounted with no issues using some custom brackets I'm going to make.

SeanSerino, any updates on your slim fan install?

I ordered a Mishimoto radiator and am having troubles fitting it in with my AEM v1 CAI. Except its the drivers side fan that is in the way.

^ I had to trim the driver's side fan shroud to get my AEM CAI V1 to fit. It wasn't much though. Easily done with a dremel or cutoff wheel.

Btw, I have the FullBlown radiator and my SOS intake tube rubs the passenger fan shroud...

I ended up pushing my cai inwards a tiny bit. Then bent the drivers side fan shroud a bit where it used to come into contact with the CAI. Now it fits with ~1cm of clearance...and i can drive again

All in all, the rad looks great. I did have to modify the fan shroud height as the OEM ones were too tall for it to mount properly. About .3 cm too high. Ended up shaving the the 2 bases.
