Default Modifry ECT is showing full bar on cold engine

I know this is old topic, but there is no definite answer to my problem answer after I made long search on this forum

Anyway, I decided to install Modifry ECT, instead of drilling a whole on my pilar for temp gauge. I followed the installation guidelines thoroughly, but the results was not correct.
I do not think it is the wiring issue, because each respective wire was tapped to associated colors, and they are in-tacked tightly.

when I turned the key to ON position (engine was totally cold), the LED blinked very fast. It was probably 4-5 times per second. I know that means overheated. The cluster temp meter was also showing full bars.

Funny was, when I pressed the reset button, the LED blinked slow... about 1-2 times per second.

I was thinking to reprogram the setting to be lower by 50 points.

However, I do not think it will solve the problem (lowest digit was 0189 highest was 1890). At the current stage, it the voltage can be around 180ish.

So, can you tell me what to do ...

Thanks

Sounds like you got most of the wiring right. Can you put a multimeter on the signal wire an say what voltage it shows?

I had not got the chance to check the voltage on the unit. However, when I hooked the computer and tried to reset the ECT database, the screen showed AEM EMS has 2000ohm, instead of 1500ohm...

What is that mean?

After the screen showed that message, the next line was

"error"
"error"
"error"
"error"
"error"

up to the end...

Well, persistent is finally paid-off...

On the beginning I used Hyperterminal software to upload the .txt file. Unfortunately, the software would shut down the transmission, if errors were found. Also, the software would not give strong warning, if the transmission was successful or failed. I only saw blinked cursor and no more explanation.

I searched online to find another Telnet program, which lucky enough to find Teraterm (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html) and used this software to overwrite the file.

The transfer went very fast. After it got transferred, all of the sudden the temp meter on the cluster step by step went down (engine was off).

I thought I screwed the ECT (busted the program). Later I unhooked the wires and started the engine. I let it idle for approximately 5 minutes. During the first 2 minutes, the bar went up 1 and within the next 4 minutes it reached the middle.

What a relief to see it finally works !!!

You know it might have helped if you'd have mentioned dicking around with the settings in your first post.
