Multiple CEL Codes with Comptech S/C - MY 2002
Guys:
I am having a small problem. Every time I start the car after a few hours of being off, after a few seconds of being on, the check engine light comes on. I proceed to scan and I get the following codes:
P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P1399 - Manufacturer controlled system or misfire
P0410 - Secondary air injection system malfunction
The Cylinder misfires are random. Sometimes just 1 Cylinder sometimes 3, sometimes 4.
Anyone has had this problem with the Comptech System?
Thanks,
Everett

X 3A 4th point. You have hooked up your vacuum hoses incorrectly or reversed the white check valve or forgot to plug the little air injection solenoid wiring harness back on. That's what's causing the 410 code.
If you didn't have misfire codes before the S/C install, then it is logical that the install caused your problems now.

First, did you regap your spark plugs?
Second, did you crimp the ESM or solder?
Third, are you sure you installed the ESM correctly?

Thanks for the input.
The car was giving put Missfire Cel Codes before the S/C install. According to Honda, my 2002 had to be repaired with a bulleting that replaced the spark plugs and inspected or change the coils of each spakplug. I did this bulleting, but two days after I did the S/C install. The car ran fine for about two weeks but after it started sendig the misfires again.
The ESM is soldered. The sparkplugs came pregapped by Comptech, according to them.
If the plugs are bad, how can I indentify them as being bad?
Also, another questions, what is the recommended pressure on the fuel pressure regulator? I installed a fuel pressure gauge.
Coud it be the spark plug coils?
Thanks,
Everett

It would have been nice if you had told us this at the beginning instead of leading us on to think that your S/C install was the cause of it.

Unfortunately it throws doubt and confusion. Is it the old problem returning? The SC?
Also NEVER EVER believe a pre-gapped statement. And chances are they gapped your plugs to factory spec which is .042 (I think). You should pull the plugs, inspect for damage, and gap for .034... maybe .032. I have .034 myself and it works good.

Thanks for the tips.
I called Comptech and asked them about the Sparplugs and they said that the ones they sent came pregapped for the kit.
However, I will remove and verify them tommorow and re-check the Gap.
Thanks a lot and I will be reporting tommorow if the situation is fixed.
Thanks a lot!!

While your pulling the plugs look for white ash on the plugs, etc. Make sure to use anti-seize greese when you put them back in, and torque!!!! To 18 lb.
And since your under there anyway, do as Xviper said and check out those vacuum hoses. Also as I learned, if there's even the smallest crimp in those hoses, it can throw a cell. After my SC'r was installed I got a cell for the secondary O2 sensor. It was just a slight crimp that developed in the hose when it got warm and softened up just a bit. Straightened out the crimp, car has been running great for a year now... cell free!
I'm also running a plug that is 1 step colder than stock. The IK24's, which will be getting replaced this week with NGK 7173 coppers. The IK24's only last a year if you are lucky anyway on most SC'rd s2k's... I can buy enough 7173's for a year and still spend less haha.
