took a look at the block and it seems that is was done by heat, not by loss of oil, just seemed that the oil came out at the same time.. crank and all bearing are perfect which meens i got it shut off in time to not do any damage due to loss of oil..

Now the kicker is that turn around time on a customer ordered piston is 3-5 weeks.. what a pain in the ass.. I guess in the meantime i am ordering a new radiator and spoon thermastat, and some other cooling goodies to make sure that it does not happen again..

I can not catch a break with this car.

You sure motor was built right? U shouldn't new special cooling stuff. Check if any water passages where clogged. Maybe timing was bad on tune. Maybe u drove it to hard when the oil spilled out?

yeah motor was right.. i did not check the water passages, but did not have any problem before hand.. and yes i was on it a little when the oil shot out, but only went a block.. it may have been long enough to do the damage.

I have a question about your canton oil plate. How was it installed?

I removed the stock water oil cooler and got the civic oil filter bolt thing. When I went to put the stuff together, I noticed that the canton supplied bolt that goes through the oil plate was a little too long and did not allow the plate's gasket to seal tight enough for me. I took it back apart and cut the end of the canton bolt (just a little) and made it smooth and pretty, then reinstalled it. Much tighter fit.

Reason for the story is that you may have also gone the same route as me to install the oil plate, but it may not have sealed correctly because the bolt was too long and bottomed out before the gasket was able to seal 100%. It may be the same when installing it to a stock oil cooler bolt as well though, I just don't know that from experience.

I'd look into WHY/HOW this happened (oil plate came loose) before going to town on rebuilding it as to prevent another accident.

Also... I hate to spend someone elses money, but I'd get the block resleeved and new pistons that are stock bore size, again, to prevent things like what's happened where you have to get a custom piston because they don't offer anything over 89mm off the shelf. That way, if you do need to fix a problem later, a bore to the next biggest size and new pistons with a new tune and you should be good to go (unless you need new bearings and such).

Stick with it man.
