Navy_crx's Turbo build
So ive been a troll around here for a while so its time to start my own build thread.
Started off buying my 2000 GPW AP1 for 5k 2 years ago, i was test driving it and an axle broke (not my fault i was still in the parking lot i met the guy in). Well a long story short he thought it was the diff so i got it for half asking price. turned out to be a broken axle and an easy fix. well fast foward 3 months when i had an overheating issue and popped the HG and scored up #4's walls pretty bad. dident know this till after my 7 month deployment so it sat for a WHILE. i finally got stateside and pulled the valvecover to find this

off went the block to Laskey for a 10:1 pauter rod, CP piston build while i ordered all new OEM parts for the botom end, and started my shave and tuck.

Thanks it was my first shave/tuck i really dont know if i would do it again. She's in primer now and will be for a while as i cant afford a good paint job and getting her running is #1 on my list.

Looking good so far
I wouldn't wrap the manifold. Theres nothing to melt since you tucked everything.Quality of the manifold is still unknown and it may start to crack. Any reason your using a scavenge pump instead of just running the drain to the timing cover or pan?
I think gravity will help your oil go back to the pan. No need for scavenge pump at that turbo location. Even though the manifold is from a reseller on ebay I think the quality seems to be up par with more expensive offerings, at least the welds on your unit looks ok.
for sharing your story.
