THE OFFICIAL: WATER/METHANOL INJECTION Thread

Many stand alone kits offer an optional flow meter which ties in to the EMS which will signal a timing map retard, or operate a waste gate/dump with vac solenoid. Contact a rep at one of the several companies ie; Aquamist, Devils own, Snow performance, AEM... get some guidance on what you need form the experts. Go with the one that gives you clear, precise informed information, which is familiar enough with your particular set up, rather then just a vague sales pitch. I never ran a fail safe, nor did I run a conventional stand alone EMS set up. I went full custom injection after experiencing the deficits in performance of the cheap AEM progressive system.

So ran water methanol 50/50 for first time this weekend.
Travelled from the UK to the Nurburgring.
Did 12 laps over the weekend (6 per day) and went through about 7 ltrs of the stuff..
I used the smallest nozzle with the setting set to 6psi (start) and 12psi (full).... this means I’m spraying at full capacity beyond this boost level.
I saw AIT drop from 50/60’c to 30/40’c whist spraying.
My car has a Paxton Novi1200 (CT engineering kit) tuning 19psi peak at 9200 rpm. With SOS large exchange (as pictured above).
Ambient air temp was 22-24’c
Seems like a good option at the mo

Methanol has beneficial cooling property's as well, if you ever feel it on your skin you know what i'm talking about. It feels cool to the touch as it evaporates, and evaporation and proper atomization go together. Meth not only aids in cooling and efficiency of the injection but aids in detonation suppressant which is always good for added safety margin.
You have an efficiency window with afr, where more or less fuel has no power influence and that's typically between 12.5-13.5afr, so better to run a 50/50 mix which I subscribe to. Also general rule of thumb is to run 50/50 mix with a nozzle size that nets 1 point drop in afr to get full saturation/cooling/detonation benefits. I tune to a safe and near peak efficiency fuel of 12.5- 13 AFR and when my injection comes in I see around 11.5:1AFR. For reference, that is the large 550cc nozzle that comes in the typical AEM 3 pack. To the previous poster above(earth worm jim) running high boost and only the small nozzle, he is only getting about 1/3-1/2 the benefits he could be getting running a larger nozzle. Im only running 7psi with a large 550cc nozzle and i inject 100% at 2psi/4000rpm
