Since I installed the turbo I have seen this problem of a flat spot around 5500 in certain load conditions (generally higher load). I have been remiss and haven't logged the A/F, knock, VTEC state and Oil pressure so I really haven't started to diagnose the problem. But I do know that FI cars driven on the track have higher oil temps so figured the cooler was mandatory.

I am surprised that raising oil pressure through shimming wouldn't correct low oil pressure related problems as I'd assume that pressure is lost throughout the circuit and higher initial pressure would result in higher pressure through out?

Anyway, as I still don't know the source of my problem I really need to do the diagnosis before such drastic measures as pulling my sump. I'm also waiting on a restrictor from LoveFab in case the turbos oil feed is stealing my pressure.

aus,

Good to get that .035 resister. I later found out that if you run a GT-R series turbo it is bad to run without the resister. I was burning oil and had a faint oil smell from this. I just hope I didn't ruin my turbo. I think Cody is sending the kits out now with resictors so its all good. The resrictor costs all of like $7 bucs anyway and just goes right on top of the turbo. It really does make the hole alot smaller so I can see how this could help with your oil pressure. Good luck bud.

I'm paying a little more than that, but if I've damaged the turbo it will be peanuts by comparison.

you could have the seals checked to verify they are not damaged. the BB turbos dont like oil pressure above 60psi thus the restrictor. If you can tig then just fill the 1/8th to AN fitting and then drill out a hole no bigger than .40

If Cody sent you a -3 line with the original kit then you should be fine, because of the fluted inside of that AN fitting the hole does reduce oil pressure significantly but the restrictor is ideal.

The feed line is pretty small. It's a braided steel line about 5mm in diameter. Does that sound like a -3?

Sounds right, -3 is 3/16 inch ID.

( -4 is 4/16 inch and so on)
