Default One last noob s/c question

Hey guys,

My S/C is almost done and I plan on keeping it stock as of now. Obviously if I started to do some modding, the FMU wouldn't be sufficient but I was reading vortech's website and they actually recommend using an aftermarket exhaust.

Is it ok to run a catback on the FMU? I know a testpipe would probably be pushing it but vortech seems to recommend the better flowing exhaust.

Thoughts?

I don't think an exhaust will make enough of a difference to strain your FMU anymore than it already is.

go ahead and buy yourself an exhaust catback and enjoy the sound...
If you worry too much buy an AF dataloging Gauge and watch your AF it they are around 12-13 in full boost than you are good, other than that you cant change anything else when it comes in timing, inj. fuel opening ..
when you are there buy a Zeitronix all accessory unit and watch your boost,AF,EGT ...ect and know allways you are good to go on your engine..
and when time comes and you up the boost you will still benefit the unit.
As i say, your car wont be stock now so you need to buy few things that matter. AF would be first on my list if i do it all over agin.
Here is how my Zeitronix looks like...
Not marketing anything just i searched for a long what covers everythigng i need and is slick looking and dosnt intrude in the cockpit a lot.Laptop is not in play,...

I totally understand that if I start modding, the EMS is the way to go; I'm just getting conflicting responses from this forum and vortech. Vortech told me the FMU runs pretty rich to stay safe (10's) and that a catback exhaust is actually recommended to compensate for all the extra airflow.

Safety/reliability is always number one and I don't mind spending cash to keep it that way.
