4800 stage 1, smog legal complete kit
3500 tuner kit, still need the AEM and injectors (is that all this is needed to safely make 350)
the Votech might be a slightly better option

I really love the SOS stage2, but Calif is tight on smog issues. Dont want to un-install every 24 months for fix it tickets

Not into track or racing, just want a smile factor and 100% reliable weekends night and Sunday drives

I live in Caly with the SOS Stage 2 kit and took the SMOG test. For SMOG, you don't have to remove every component. I left the heat exchanger in place (connected hoses with an inline connector) and the S/C bracket mounting hardware to block (there is enough room for the stock airbox). Swapping injectors, ECU, removing blower and bracket, test pipe, catch cans, re-routing hoses to stock, etc took less than 4 hours. This process gave me a chance to ensure all the hoses and other parts where in physically good condition. Also, the Vortech SCi is the same as (compressor maps and internals) the Paxton 1220 and the Si is the same as the 1200 (unbelievers talk with Jamie at Vortech).

SL failure could be a limited issue, if it was a bad issue there would be a recall or countless post of SL failures

from what I've read it seems like SL failure occurs when people use smaller pulleys to increase psi. they are fairly reliable at 7-10 psi.

I have a call into a local tuner what he would suggest for 350-375WHP.

the SOS looks nice, Price is a little more that I want to be. The issue of no C.A.R.B. hold me back. In the event someday I want to sell is there a good market to sell it. I would assume yes bc there is no other SOS kits used. lots of Comptech and couple Vortechs. I like the upgraded SOS throttle body

The Vortech Tuner $3700 seems fair, SC has the CARB cert. on the blower. I need to get EMS and fuel mgt maybe fuel injectors?
(AEM EMS? I have a 2002 Sony Vio will that operate the AEM?)

Getting a V2 seems good but the oil line into the pan bothers me, Vortech said that is NOT supplied
someday if I sell now I have a open hole.

with the tuner kit you will need fuel pump, injectors, map sensor and ems.
your laptop should work. i would look into getting e-tuned from jeff @ evans: http://www.evans-tuning.com/ecommerc...aem-etune.html
gl with your build!

First off, I've never heard of anyone melting a cat using a supercharger. No worries there.

Second, if you live in Cali, getting a CARB legal setup is a wise move. But... A "tuner" kit with custom engine management and a custom tune is NOT CARB LEGAL. Sure, the blower itself may somehow be, but the supporting setup is not. If I were you I would still go that route because you'll get the CARB sticker, which should give you 90% protection from trouble. But you'll need to be aware that it's not really legal; it just claims to be.

Third, you'll need to decide what EMS to run. You can't pass OBDII tests with AEM, so your options are limited to swapping out the ECU for the test or going with Greddy or Hondata. (I don't know if Cali does OBDII or a real sniff test.) Some folks have had trouble getting Hondata past the OBDII tests because it uses a different ECU. So, that leaves Greddy EMU, which works great for me and passes OBDII every time, but a lot of folks have trouble with it.

The other option is to go with a less powerful kit so that you won't need an ECU. Less fun, but less trouble and less risk.
