Default Opinions on what should go into a built head.

Well... I have to change out my head. So, I'm planning on getting another one and building it. I'd like to get some opinions on what parts others have used and how they are holding up. What did you do and maybe what was the cost?

Also, I'm thinking of doing a 2mm head gasket for when I change out my turbo kit. I was gathering things to do an E85 tune on the greddy kit to see if that was a viable way to get more power from the kit, but this has set me back. I just wanted to see what it could do.

What's you opion also on the 2mm head gasket? I know there has been a rash of problems with the 3mm ones...

Greddy kit with e85 will not need a 2mm HG! Get a new stock one.

I had my head build up with Incolnel exhaust valves, nitride coated SS intake walves, dual valve springs, port and polish and some other stuff. I went with Steve from http://cccylinderheads.com/ it is pretty cheap and he does good work

I know the greddy kit won't need the 2mm head gasket EVER. I'm thinking of doing it though for when I upgrade my kit like I said in my post. I'm probably going to skip over the e85 stuff for this kit. I'm kinda done with it.

And thanks for the link.

Anyone else care to chime in?

Anybody have the Supertech dished nitride coated intake valves, inconel exhaust valves, dual springs, titanium retainers, and bronze guides? That's the setup I'm thinking of now...

Should I increase the size of the valves? What good comes of that? What spring stiffness should I do with, standard or maybe 1 step up?

If you increase size of valves you need matching porting on head

I recommend you get all new valve guides installed along with your new valves and springs.

Yeah, I'm planning on dropping my new head off at the machine shop anyways, that's why I'm thinking of bigger valves.

Also, I was planning on getting the set up I posted: "Supertech dished nitride coated intake valves, inconel exhaust valves, dual springs, titanium retainers, and bronze guides." I don't do anything half assed if I'm going to do it.

(I'm sure someone is going to say something like "then why did you get a greddy kit?" I track my car and want low to midrange power.)
