Thumbs up Painted FMIC Question

I've been looking at getting my intercooler sprayed black. I'm not much for the shiny chrome affect and was wondering if there was a certain paint to use so that it wouldn't affect the efficiency of the intercooler.

I did it to mine just to hide best i could my intercooler, when my tuner was tuning my car he said it def affected my power NOT by much but some.
If i were to do it all over again i would just apply 2-3 coats instead of 10.
I just used high temp spray paint from homedeput.

painting it will take away at the cooling effect. You would want to anodize (sp) it so it won't loose cooling efficeny I think.

get it anodized. this can actually help heat transfer (aka cooling).

Swain Technology - I had the intercooler on my old S2000 sprayed by them. They have a special type of process and spray they use that actually helps the heat transfer in the intercooler... as well as giving it the sneaky appeal.

The shiny bits on the ends are not caps.. that is the traditional silver on the intercooler. The sheet that the intercooler is sitting on is actually a dark black.

Most likely you will need to go directly through Swain Technology. From what I understand, Sports Compact Car did an article a long time ago on their work and they gave it excellent feedback!

I'd recommend just giving them a call and arrange having it sent to them, that is what I did.

It's a long story... however the sale of the vehicle was probably one of the hardest and most painful, yet smartest decisions I have ever made in my life.
