Painted FMIC Question
Had an 03' Evolution 8 as my daily beater while the S2000 was being worked on. After I sold the S2000, decided the Evo8 needed to go to. As of this coming Friday, I'll be car-less. Arranging to drive my old beater, 97' GSR that my friend bought from me until I can find a new good car.

I had mine painted from Inline before putting it on. I personally haven't had any problems with it even in the dead of summer last year. It might make a difference if you want evey last bit of power and dont want anything holding you back on a warm or hot day, but generally I don't think it should be a problem.
I can try to keep an eye on my intake air temps next time I'm driving the car and post ambient temp. and the actual intake air temp if you'd like.
But generally anodizing is a more "performance oriented" approach to hiding your IC.

This subject has come up on several of the other car lists I have been on and the conclusion was painting wasn't going to hurt. They had all kinds of data to back it up, but I didn't save any of it because it didn't apply to me.
One of the arguments that did stick tho was radiators. Whens the last time you saw an unpainted OEM radiator?
10 coats might be excessive tho. . . . . .

Most likely you will need to go directly through Swain Technology. From what I understand, Sports Compact Car did an article a long time ago on their work and they gave it excellent feedback!
I'd recommend just giving them a call and arrange having it sent to them, that is what I did.

got my turbo housing coated (the hot side) and they even coated the flanges which is not the biggest deal but i didn't want that.
My order was lost in space. They had no idea where it was and when asked, they had no idea. And on top of that, I was given wrongful information as far as a time that it would take to coat it.
sorry for the hijack

I dealt with them once and not sure I ever want to send any of my stuff to them again.

- Ouch, that is no good. Everything went pretty smooth when mine was done. Sad part is, we don't know if I had an out of the box good experience and yours is more common... or if you had an out of the box bad experience and mine was more common
I used black radiator spray paint, I believe it said that it cools better. I used it on my Blitz Intercooler, on my turbo 240sx. Due to me living in Cali and cops hating the SR20 lol. Didn't lose cooling, had a blitz temp gauge, and it didn't move up. It did move down a mm or two, but I can't back that up.
I did hear thou that paint will mess it up, but if used heavy... do 2-3 real thin passes and you should be good

got it from here http://www.eastwoodco.com/
