good luck on the new build

I've seen plenty of valve reliefs cracked/gone, and ringlands cracked, but never a hole in the side like that, and it's a CP piston, not oem.

I'd have a look on your exhaust valves and exhaust wheel to see where all that metal went after it melted! It's pretty easy to check for clearances on the oil pump, especially if you've put together the motor. Hope your build goes well and you can enjoy the car this summer!

Well, it looks like it blew through to the back side, a ton of metal on the underneath of the piston that stuck to it. I asked them to look over the head and turbo, b/c if it was damaged, I wasn't going to replace all that. They said it was ok, I haven't looked the head over myself yet, or the turbo, but will this week.

Please build a set up around the 500hp range with good spool and push it no more than around 14psi or 21 psi with better 9:1 pistons . I can't read another thread about you blowing your motor , it make my wallet hurt $$$$$$$ . A 500hp s2000 is one fast car .

Makes me wonder if there was a partial defect in that particular piston from CP. Once it was breached it just melted down. This would be consistent with all your other pistons being in perfect condition. I would expect some amount of failure on your other pistons otherwise, considering the severity of this one and where it was damaged. I'd try and at least get a new set for free from CP.

I agree more or less, a 500whp S thats done right, spools right and street-able with a broad powerband is just awesome and lethally fast. Why anyone feels the need to dabble in 700whp territory is a bit baffling to me. I guess if bragging rights are the most important thing then that's understandable as long as you have the cash to play that race. I just really enjoy driving the car, not seeing it on the dyno as much.

I did the 500whp thing twice already, you all forget my 30r setup already? I wanted a 700whp car a year ago and I'll have it. I do work on the side to help pay for toys. Yea I have to work a little harder, but it's worth it in the end IMO.

Bragging rights are nice, but I do this bc I'm a car guy, it's how I unwind.
