Thumbs down Pressure in valve cover...

I heard if you wanna check if you have blowby comming from the engine and into the valve cover you open the oil cap when the engine is idling and if put a business card over the open oil cap fill spot that the business card should not fly out... well their enough pressure in mines to shoot the damn business card off the valve cover.

Is this normal for our cars?
Or is this normal for a turbo car with krank vent?

I also have the supra krank vents installed in the line between the manifold and valve cover.

Can someone run to their car and start it and open the oil cap while its idling?
Dont worry no oil will shoot out... just air but i wanna know how much air

thx ahead of time

That is not the most reliable way to tell if you have blow by, there is alot of air moving around in there due to the pistons going up and down and whatnot. Why are you worried about it?

This is the normal route for blowby air, from the intake arm, thru the valve cover, out the PCV, then back into the intake manifold.

Here is a diagram from the helms manual. the quality is bad, but it shows the PCV routing, which the blow by hose is apart of. This is also the reason why oil catch tanks are located inline w/ the PCV valve and not the blow by hose...the direction of oil filled air is going from the crank case to the IM.

Some people weld 2 extra bungs to their valve cover and attach hoses to the bungs and connect the hoses to a breather tank. I've seen this a lot on high revving N/a cars as well as boosted cars.. )
