the fake bov's are inferior in design shape and the material that the diaphragm is made of. there are a number of reasons why it isn't performing the way it should. i would get any authentic bov and it'll likely perform better than this one.

The vac line that goes to the intake manifold is still on there when I do the test.
should I take it off & plug both fittings before I pressurize the system?
OK I tested again ... this time took the vacuum line of the BOV & plugged both ends.
BOV didnt really leak until I pressurized the system to over 20psi. I guess the BOV is OK then.

Since I added a manual boost controller it of course leaked out of the small hole on one of the barbs, plugged that with my finger..

Only place i can hear a strong leak from is turbo area. When I got under there 3 of the 5 bolts that hold the downpipe to turbo are gone . They must have fell out. Will have to replace them. Im gonna redo test tomorrow when car is cold, soapy water is just burning up right now.

That should cause any leaks though, right? Its after the turbo

Also Im gonna get a cheap fog machine and try that too, its hard to see bubbles in that cramped space.

Would a blown turbo seal cause a boost leak?

A couple of things I am wondering about...why is any air leaking out of your boost controller? All barbs should be connected to vac lines. Unless your manual boost controller is just different than mine...and second are you still looking for a boost leak or an exhaust leak? B/c you refer to the missing bolts from the turbine housing...which will cause an exhaust leak...but not a boost leak. Blown turbo seals will not cause a boost leak either. If you think you have a blown turbo seal pull off the filter and look at the turbo inlet to see if there is any oil pooling there. If not you should be good. Another sign of blown turbo seals is white smoke in the exhaust that smells like oil since the oil is burning up in the exhaust if it leaks on the turbine side. If you say the system held 20psi then I wouldn't be concerned with a boost leak, especially if you only boost to 8. I'd worry more about the exhaust leak.

Your BOV should hold more than 20psi since some people may boost higher than that. As far as the oil in the intake side...that is indicative of blown turbo seals...or the turbo could be clocked wrong. If you have oil in the intake side you most certainly have it in the exhaust side as well, which will cause your car to smoke. And if the exhaust leak is before the turbo, it will certainly cause a loss of power since the turbo will not be getting the full force of the exhaust to spin it so it won't compress as much air. As far as I know blown turbo seals don't cause boost leaks...but I guess it's possible. How many miles on your turbo/what type is it/do you have an oil restrictor on it/is it clocked correctly? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out your problem!

no problem on the questions, i love typing & appreciate the help

BOV problem is solved now, I replaced with a brand new Synapse , sounds awesome compared to that Greddy garbage.. doesnt leak at at all, I hooked up the 2 vac lines & boost line as suggested in the instructions.

Noticed another leak coming from the turbo, where that little fitting is for an internal wastegate.. Im letting some JB weld dry on there right now.

Turbo is Precision Billet 5857 Journal Bearing.. bought new, now has approx 3k miles. Not running a restrictor, feedline is -4AN.
AFAIK its clocked correctly, was installed at a reputable shop who is a sponsor on this board. How could I tell if its wrong?

Im supposed to have it looked at by a local expert/friend this week, guy has installed 100's of turbo kits, hopefully he can pin it down for me.

i think u should use a restrictor.

what size?
Should I use a -3AN line instead, or .065" hole size 1/8" NPT restrictor on my -4AN line

I called precision & asked them, of course they told me not to.
