I haven't read through all the thread but read some issues with the oil pumps. What's the issue with them is it something that could keep happening? Looking into possibly getting this kit over the winter.
it just seems like some people got a bad pump. Ptuning replaced mine really quickly. Easy to replace and it seems to working fine now. I believe the pumps come with a 2 year warranty.

The oil supply is separate from engine oil with this kit? If it stops did your turbo get killed?

the oil supply isnt separate from the engine oil. if it stops and you continue to drive the car you risk doing damage to your turbo and your engine. My turbo and motor is fine because when the light came on I turned the car off and towed it home. But the "good thing" is you will know when the pump stops working because the oil light will come on.

Oh damn. So what's the point of the oil pump then? Thought it was it's own system.

Pretty much you can drive the car upside down and the turbo will still receive oil. It makes sure during heavy g forces the turbo is still getting oil.

I believe the reason why you need the oil scavenger pump is because the turbo sits so low. It requires the pump to drain the oil from the turbo back into the engine. Any other turbo usually sits high where the oil can gravity drain down into the oil pan or girdle. There isn't a way for the oil to drain as it sits by the oil pan and the drainage point is lower than the oil level.

I've read the comment about the "reliability" of this turbo kit. Stating in the comment that there are too many components to go wrong. Simple is better ect. Understood.

But when you have extremely high quality components that are NOT breaking nor giving issues like other kits have, i'll take a blown fuse any day over other components breaking.

Ptuning isn't a company that just says, "oh well"

They deal with the issue, provide the best customer service and make things right. Providing the folks that have the kit already with the free relay from SPAL is a big plus. The pump could be something simple as well. These guys don't let things sit. Any time and everytime I go there, they are consistently looking for ways to improve, build and make better. Their integrity alone won't let their products fall.

Rest assured, these issues will be squared away. Their love for cars and passion for the s2000 by far exceeds expectations from most competitors and building this kit from scratch and being the ONLY mass produced kit of its kind, craftsmanship, and quality of components, speaks volumes of Ptuning.

Which is the truth. This fan when it kicks on is like a mini tornado under there hood. That surge of power when it first comes on, is a huge load on the electrical system. I'm glad that SPAL had already realized this and created the fix.
