CN: He didn't make the power he wanted and realized that utilizing an OEM Mitsubishi exhaust housing on a turbo is going to limit power.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with this kit. Just need to sleep on it some more.
I'll keep it positive as I have spend a lot of money with SOS, and I appreciate everything they do for the community.

The kit was very nice aesthetically, fit and finish is what you would expect from SOS. But the kit was designed around an inefficient exhaust housing and wastegate system, combined with the GTX3576 I chose to run, the power band peaked at 7500rpm and remained flat until redline producing under 400whp on 93 octane at 15psi. It probably would not have flat lined as early in the RPM range if I had a straight 3076 or 3582, but it is what it is. I lost around $2,000 dollars on that kit, and bought a new SOS N1200 system. I had been running that ever since, and now I want the kit I should have bought initially.

I have been drooling over this kit since the first time it launched, but was always worried about going turbo since I have no real experience with them. I've only had SC'd cars. Hearing all the good things about this kit makes it harder for me to shy away from this though. lol

My plan was to go with the SOS kit N1200, but seeing this thread makes me question if I will make the right decision to go with the SC over this turbo.. decision, decisions...

Ouch, I can understand why you switched. I can't blame you for wanted to try the kit out...it is SOS after all. I have been thoroughly impressed with their products that I have purchased. I was at this same crossroad (S/C or turbo) before I decided to go forced induction. I had the TS Maxx kit picked out with all the essentials to go with it. A day before I took the plunge a friend of mine pointed me towards a member on here selling their used SOS S/C kit. The cost was way better on the S/C kit, but I was always left wondering about the TS Maxx. At the time, it seemed like the best and most reliable kit. I'll have to do a rundown of your build on it to get the full scope.

After a year and a half of owning the S/C kit I went through all the rabbit holes chasing the most power I could out of it. Upgraded to the 1200, setup for E85, larger diverter valve, etc. I spent almost what I originally spent on the kit only to be left a little disheartened. It makes more power, but the delivery of it; though factory like; isn't truly usable on the street unless you redline it everywhere you go. It's a love hate relationship...I usually tell people that the power delivery is just like factory, but with a lot more power. After driving and setting up my friends turbo over the past few weeks, it made me realize that though turbo lag is real, the way the power comes on is a huge difference compared to the S/C. The torque curve is most responsible for the broader power range, but it feels much more usable. I do believe I may just make the switch!

Interested in option 3. I sold my ptuning kit and thinking about selling my s2000 but this kit back on my car may change my mind.

I have noticed 4 out of the top 5 articles topics in the FI section are Ptuning related subjects!

What he said is FI 101, turbo vs SC, not exactly mind blowing stuff. A turbo will always be a lot more "fun" because of the broad torque curve. I think of turbo lag kinda like suddenly merging into fast traffic with an automatic. You just gotta give it throttle a little before you actually need it (w autos so the tranny has a second to downshift).
