Question for fellow PTuning turbo kit owners. I'm looking to remote mount my oil filter since its a pain to change oil, and was also thinking of adding an oil cooler. How would that integrate with the scavenging oil pump with this turbo kit? I still don't fully understand the reasoning behind the scavenging pump or which way the oil is flowing.

Should I just remote mount the filter and skip adding an oil cooler? I remember when ordering the turbo kit, the PTuning oil cooler add-on was like $800 which I though was way too much money and can probably be assembled for much less.

The pump is necessary because of the low mounting of the turbo. without it, you'll get a bunch of blue smoke out the exhaust very quickly, because the oil just builds up. I'm talking seconds after start up. I learned this because I forgot to plug the pump in before starting one day.

As for the routing with the Ptuning cooler:

- A tee fitting replaces the OEM oil drain bolt.

- The oil return for the turbo joins with the leading fitting on the tee

- The scavenging pump inlet connects to the rear fitting on the tee.

- The inlet goes through pump -> oil thermostat inlet -> oil cooler inlet. Then oil cooler outlet -> oil thermostat outlet -> pump outlet -> timing chain cover. (Ptuning provides an AN fitting for the TC Cover inspection bolt)

Hope that helps.

Hey guys,

Ptuning is currently doing a group by on this kit, about to put down my deposit for one. I wanted to see if anyone can send me the installation instructions that came with the kit (couldnt find them online), I am interested in seeing how the installation is.

Does this kit still have boost creep issues? If i were to buy run this kit, i would be using the stock exhaust if it matters. I would like a fast spooling turbo and flex fuel. I would like 450 hp at least for the street and maybe have the ability to turn it up on the highways to 550. I’m not trying to break diff and trany.
Just want a fun car, it was supercharged a year back at 400whp on flex fuel..

I think boost creep with this kit depends on your exhaust system. They include a restrictor disk for the downpipe in order to reduce creep. I have the GTX3576, wastegate vented to the atmosphere, not running the restrictor disk, and get no creep. My exhaust is HKS 2.5”, and I can run 10psi with zero creep. My car made 560whp at 20psi on E85 last year on a stock F22 block. I don’t have any experience with this turbo kit on stock exhaust but I would think it would limit the power capability of this turbo kit.

Yup, wastegate dump to atmosphere helps reduce boost creep. The more restrictive exhaust helps reduce boost creep.

By wastegate dump to atoms. Wastegate dump is not connect to the exhaust.
Are you going hurting any transmission or diff with power over 450?
not asking about drag launch, stock can break with that. More like full throttle 2nd to 3rd shifts.
