Default Quick question - not urgent

Tonight I am installing the Inline Pro oil filter relocation kit on a friends s2k. We are not doing the turbo install for a week but I wanted to get a few things out of the way first so we wouldn't be rushed for time.

My question is: If I pull off the oil filter without draining the oil first, how much oil will come out of the block? I assume most of the oil is in the pan but just wanted to check.

We will be doing the oil change next week when the new oil pan goes on and I would prefer not to deal with it today.

Thanks,
Uncle Pete

usually whatever is in the filter... when I did my install, maybe half a quart total is what you will lose

*edit* Per Honda Repair Manual, it is 5.1 Qt for the change with the filter change and only 4.8 without changing the filter, so I would think the filter would contain the .3 Qt difference...

yea, you are not going to loose any oil from the block, only from what is in the filter itself (.2-.3 qt). You are going to have a hard time squeezing the turbo in there with that installed though. make sure you take the factory oil cooler off and loop the coolant line. Also, in order for you to install that, you are going to need a couple big sockets, and you may have to remove the hard line coming out of the block in order to turn it on. because the peice that goes in place of the filter hits as you turn it on. You will see what i mean when you go to do this. I did this less then a week ago. goodluck.

rob! - I have installed one before so I remember what I was up against. Last time I forgot to take off the oil cooler assembly and the turbo would not fit. Luckily I remembered this time.

Thanks!
