Recommended pump size and injectors?
Hey Guys,
What injectors and fuel pump do you guys recommend? My goals are 400whp on pump gas and 500whp on e85. But more importantly I'm looking for quick spool and great low end. I enjoy weekend street driving, an occasional autocross, and a quick/snappy response. I'm not looking for huge power numbers. I want it to be more on the conservative side for reliability. I live in Colorado so elevation is a contributing factor at 8000 feet.
I currently run ID 1000's and a walbro 255 fuel pump. I made 414 hp on pump gas yesterday (60% duty cycle of injectors). When we drained the tank and filled to tune on e85 we only made 424hp when we maxed out 100% duty cycle according to tuner. Can the injectors really max out at 400hp or is the fuel pump too small?
Also I have an open dumptube from wastegate running the smallest spring?
Would bumping up to the next heavier spring in my wastegate loose my low end power goals?
The open dump is a bit loud for my liking, would going closed loop interfere with my goals?
Any thoughts or recommendations?
Just call it good and stick with the pump gas tune and current fuel system?
Or would upgrading the pump and tuning on e85 be safer and more reliable.
My current set up is:
Injector dynamics 1000cc
Walbro 255 pump
Inline pro fuel rail
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
Science of speed big bore throttle body
Greddy dual spectrum elite
test pipe
Okada project coil packs
NGk Iridium bkr8eix
GTX3071r with .82 A/R housing turbo
custom forward facing manifold
Tial 44mm wastegate
HKS blow off
Mase intercooler and piping

Downpipe, test pipe, and exhaust are all 2.5".

The injectors should be fine, especially at your altitude. That said, I'd put a big boy pump in there like a Walbro 450. You will want to hardwire it with a relay and you can pump the base pressure if needed with your regulator.
I'm not sure what you mean losing the low end. A heavier WG spring will delay the opening of the WG, although not by much when it starts to crack open.
