Replacing the Pistons
Sounds like a plan.. it's been a little while since I built a shortblock, but seems like not a whole lot has changed. I remember problems with honda b series sleeved block sleeves sinking, leaking, not sealing at the headgakset..
I'm getting a feeling of deja vu reading these threads. lol I do remember many friends having issues with non-oem gaskets sealing as well, and recall ultimately going back to oem as the "fix." I remember something that some people will recommend is spraying the headgasket with a few light coats of copper spray in terms of helping it seal.
Filing down the rings is generally a piece of cake. You put the ring in the cylinder, measure the clearance, then remove it and file it down. Repeating these steps until the clearance is correct. About the only thing that you gotta watch out for/which made me nervous is popping in the pistons and rings. You don't want a ring to be out of position (the gaps for the rings are deliberately placed) or worse a ring to pop out of place and scuff the wall. Best of luck.
Oh ya, it would hurt to check the bore of the cylinders while you got the pistons out. Just to be extra sure.

No acl's are only one size, that's why I'm not a fan. It's a back and forth debate. I'll stick to oem.
I've used ACL's on EVERYTHING I built and NEVER had a bearing failure, ever.
I plan to use them this time around as well.
They are the "average" between the clearances. Heck, my cousin I just sold the Si to, did a complete rebuild, and made 850whp on 40lbs of boost w/ACL's on a B18, bored to a 2.0.
