yeah, they made a deck plate specifically for this motor, the h22 plate fit but didnt cover the whole deck, just to make sure. I was there when they set it all up the first time.. I couldn't believe it.

As for the bearing issue... with ACL race bearings All my clearances came out to 0.018-0.020" which IMHO is perfect.

From my blueprint it looks as if Laskey used ACL race bearings in my build aswell.

i think im going with the acl's i've seen alot of people use them in built motors with out issues.

Then once it was bolted down and tq'd it changed it completely.

well thats just awesome. so your saying a block could look fine and then be fubar when the head is bolted too it.

They are the "average" between the clearances. Heck, my cousin I just sold the Si to, did a complete rebuild, and made 850whp on 40lbs of boost w/ACL's on a B18, bored to a 2.0.
holy crap!!!! i remember years ago on Si.com we were happy to be pumpin 400 hp out of the b16, not at 40 psi but damn!!! when my b18 was at 600 it was a handful, i couldnt imagine how crazy it would be at 850
