Default S2000 Bolt On Supercharger Upgrade Advice

Hi guys,

I'm pretty new here and currently own a 290bhp S14 200SX & as much as I love it, I feel like a change and one of the cars I'm considering is a Honda S2000.

Now personally I feel like 240bhp the S2k produces will not satisfy my power needs as much as my S14 and have some questions re supercharging the engine.

Would appreciate all advice given. Thanks for viewing.

ps: I am fully aware that I'll need supporting mods for this modification such as brakes and better tyres just in case anyone mentions.

1. Will the std internals cope with a SC running low boost?

2. Will I need a remap?

3. Will the fuel pump cope?

4. How much power am I realistically looking at?

5. Is the conversion hard to do?

6. Will mpg be severely affected?

I'd be happy with 280bhp especially with the extra torque the SC will provide.

Anything extra will be a bonus for me

Hi and welcome!

I wouldn't worry too much about power, once you drive an S2000 and really get it dancing, you'll understand why these don't need much power to be fun. That said, no reason not to, either!

Now, onto your questions:

1. Low boost? Yes, easily.

2. Per AusS2000: The only SC kit I know of that comes with a remap is the Kraftwerk kit for 06 and up. The majority of kits (Vortech and Comptech) rely on mechanically upping the fuel pressure using a rising rate regulator.

3. Again, depends. What kit are you considering, anyway?

4. Depends on what you go with. As a rule of thumb: worst case scenario, figure 290-300 to the wheels. Best case, without building, say, 380 to the wheels.

5. Nope. Set aside a weekend if you wanna take your time. Otherwise, it's a (long) day's job, about 10-12 hours.

6. Severely, no. Depends on how you drive, but there's certainly a trade-off.

Finally, don't expect these centrifugal blowers to add significant grunt and low-down torque. It's not how they work, and not the nature of the car anyway. Downshifting is your friend. Otherwise, positive-displacement blower or turbo will give you torque.

This is just a brief reply, searching will pull up anything you need to know and more. I also recommend checking out the "forced induction" forum.

Cheers!

3. All the kits come with a new high flow warlboro fuel pump so no worries.

6. I was still getting 28-30mpg with my vortech kit installed. As long as you do not go above 6k rpms you will still have good gas mileage.

Thanks for the helpful replies guys.

Basically I'm looking for good torque all the way throughout the rev range.

What rpms will peak power be made at if using a SC?

When using the right SC, will the acceleration match that of a V6 engine or better?
