I will never put a synchro trans in my S2k again, I've broken too many.

If you are breaking dogboxes, you are doing something wrong.....sorry.

The FWD stuff is expencive if you buy a complete trany with case. its a few thousand less if you just buy the shafts and gears. it will be able to with stand drag racing a 600+ hp S2000!!! Ive been using m-factory stuff on 700-800hp FWDs and i really like the stuff!!!

I know $4000-$5000 is a lot of money, but for those of you who need this kind of trans mission your other options are going to be twice the price. Trust me ive looked into it. .

Ive talked to m-factory and they are familiar with the s2000 trany. they need to have one to tare down and take measurements to give an accurate price. Im working on sourcing one to send to them. If anyone has one sitting around we could use let me know.

John

Another thing you guys need to realize, we put a lot more stress on our gears than the FWD guys. Why?? Because our cars weigh like 1000lbs more, and we don't spin the tires like they do. Believe me, I use to have a high HP, 9 sec, FWD car (hot rod car, early 2000's). And I ran STOCK gears.

I just don't want to see anyone spend money on something that isn't going to work or hold up well. And the fact that they don't even have a stock trans there to look at doesn't inspire much confidence that they are too interested in getting something going, nor have much experience with this gear box. It is a lot different than the b-series stuff. PPG is on at least there 2nd revision of their gear sets. And if this set comes out at $5k, that's only $1500 less than a totally proven set (minus the $1500 reduction gear, that I don't think is included in MFactorys pricing either), so I guess I just don't see the market?

Now the $3k synchro set would probably have more of a crowd, I would think. But would they need 10 prepaid to even start R&D like the dogbox???

I'm not trying to be a hater, and it's good if they do actually release a nice product at an affordable price, but I'm a realist, and from the info I have read in this thread, it doesn't sound too promising that anything will happen soon.

I've heard you are loosing your PPG gearset for something this winter?

Honest question: If it's so good, why are you swapping?

btstone84: That sucks man, sorry to hear that..

boostedf22c: I'm pretty sure that the dogbox that btstone84 damaged was the PPG. I'm not sure how it was done, but I would rather not have a case like that happen to me, especially if I were to pay almost twice as much for their product! M-Factory may not know a whole lot about the transmission just yet, but $30-40K should cover all of the R&D costs, and help them come up with a product that some of the higher HP guys are in need of around here. If I had the money, I would probably go with the Quaife 60G, but I don't really have the money to spend on JUST that portion of my build...

Hopefully with more people inquiring to M-Factory now, they will get the idea and become a little more interested in this proposal.

All very good points! Im not balling out of control, and thats why i like the idea of $4k-5k for a sweet trany. Never the less the goal is to have a much stronger than stock gear box, and be able to make quick shifts, and it will be. I road race so my goal is to be able to make fast clutchless shifts and have a durable trany. Im sure they can make a synchro set if there is a demad. Anything mechanical can be broken with the right power and or abuse. First step is to get them a stock box so we can get an accurate price.

This might not happen over night but the more we act and get involved the faster the process with become.

This is why I bought a supra lol.

Its not going to be cheap to build a reliable trans for the s2000 like boostedf22c said. Not to mention the time its going to take.
