i have had 3 3mm InlinePro head gaskets. Each head gasket has lasted 20-25k miles. This equates to 1 year of DD the car. Each time the head is removed it is decked and checked for straightness. First time the head gasket was installed, it was done by billman250, a well respected Metro member. That head gasket had no copper spray and lasted about 20k miles. The second head gasket was installed with copper spray and lasted about 25k miles. I just changed my own head gasket for the 3rd time and didn't use any copper spray. InlinePro's prerogative is that its a bad tune that is causing the head gasket's to fail, while my tuner believes if it was a bad tune, it would have failed within the first 200-500 miles, not 25k hard miles. Next time the headgasket fails, i will either give this headgasket a shot, or finally go built motor with a stock HG so i don't have to worry about it anymore.

^ Excellent feedback. Now I am no expert on tuning, so pardon me if I sound innacurate. But, Wouldn't a tune that promoted excessive combustion pressure make this HG more prone to fail compared to one that had more conservative timing numbers? Just a thought...

I have a SCE ICS Titan on the way.

I talked with SCE and they recommend that you use a syringe to pipe out Permatex Mega black sealant onto the gasket. Install the gasket heat cycle the engine and retorque. When retorqueing, back the bolt off 1/4 turn then torque to spec.

So that being said what is the recommended torque with ARP studs and does that take into account for lubricants?

Should I use the KW Copper seal and Permatex sealant?

How do you prep the block?

I ask b/c my intuition is that failures to perfectly execute the above items are what causes failure and are exaggerated by the thickness of the gasket.

Nice find, If these work, sign me up for one. Im about to do a 2mm cometic, but it looks kinda hokey. I looked at the layers they used to make the correct spacing. In between the layers it looks like they took a random orbit sander and smoothed it out, not exactly precision. Its just some sheets of aluminum, I think its a 22 and 20 gage piece stacked up to make thickness, with 2 embossed steel sheets on the top and bottom. So in between the 2 aluminum sheets there is nothing really to stop exhaust from escaping other than the torque of the head studs. I imagine this area is the first to leak. Ill post some pictures on thursday.

Yes I have an "ace" up my sleeve. (Inline pro kit which is not installed yet)
I hope this gasket works out well.
