Default Shattered 2nd Gear Crew--- Checking in.

So.. I've joined the party..

What are most people doing? Just replacing it with another stocker?

My ideas/options I've come up with for the time being.

1.) Flush all the crap out.. Drive it as is. 1-3-4-5-6-R
Get a Race gas tune and have a highway warrior.

2.) Flush out as much crap I can, Drive it till I find a good deal on another stock trans.

3.) Has anybody tried the Kings Performance Gear set yet?
http://kingsperformance.com/ scroll down and its listed there..

Pretty pricey though..

TBH 2nd gear was the last thing I expected to go out tonight. I hoped for nothing to go out, but at worst I expected my diff or axle to go first..
PuddyMod Stage 2 with 3.90 has held up longer than my 2nd gear!! Lol
62k miles on my tranny.
Been boosted for a little over 5k miles with the Puddy rear end on it since day 1 of boost and It's held up so far although I'm slightly over the HP range he rates it at.---- for this product.

The 3.90 final drive put more stress on your transmission. That helped accelerate your 2nd gear failure.

Second gear is the weak link in the tranny.

Love those 3.90s and 105mph in third.

Is it possible to have them (gears, main and countershaft) cryo treated than polished? Anyone think that may help, or just a waste of time and money?

The shaft with second gear is unsupported over too long a span and thus subject to stretching and eventual loss of 2nd gear.
Cryo and polishing will not strengthen this area.

After breaking 2 of them, back to back, in less than a month, I bought a PPG gearset.

It's cheaper than replacing stock trannies every other week.

Or, turn the boost down, but I wasn't going to do that.

How does ppg solve this issue?

The one thing I have noticed is that on almost every honda 6 speed transmission (FWD and RWD) the second gear on the countershaft loves to strip off the splines on the countershaft.

This leads me to believe the shaft itself maybe the weak link?

How about a shot peening than cryo treatment and finish it off with a micropolish?

I mean the whole idea is to strengthen the parts in the transmission right? Whether it be to add a PPG gear set or beef up the oe parts.
