Should I use AEM C2DI ignition
As many of you know, my last engine build used AEM's C2DI ignition box and Honda motorcycle coils. With my new build, I'm considering sticking with the stock coil packs to simplify things. If I go with aem again I need to run some wires while the engine bay is empty. I hope to put the new engine in the car next week. My goal with the new engine is 600 whp on 92 octane pump at no more than 20 psi of boost and water/meth injection. So what do you think? has anyone broken 600 hp on the stock coil packs?
Thanks Slows. My dyno plots with the AEM ignition had 0 smoothing and the dyno operator was amazed that there was no jitter in the curve. I always wondered if this was because of the ignition.
I was thinking going the same way (MSD). The system just looks more sound (in theory). I am running the stock set up right now, but after I get more miles on it I am going to up the wick. When the stockers fail, in will go the MSD... I will let you know what i find out if I get there before you

Just an FYI, the MSD DIS-4 ignition box wires in the exact same way as the AEM CDI. When the 1st AEM CDI's came out some had problems, and found out by accident they are configured the same way, plug and all.

He said the stock coils were very good but didn't say what they could handle but I would assume at least 600 whp.
If you remember me Fred, you know who my tuner is and how much he knows.
The key to the motorcycle coils is using them with either the MSD or AEM capacitive discharge ignition modules. The combination puts out a lot more spark than the stock coilpacks. Unfortunately, since the stock coilpacks have the igniter circuit built in, they can't be used. However, if the stock coilpacks are good for 20 psi, then they should be good enough for me since I don't expext to go higher. I've heard a number of people have had ignition problems with the stock ones above 15 psi.
