Default some help on few turbo related things

i have a couple of queries/stupid questions but i hope someone can help me out with the answers

so the past year been building a turbo kit for the S had my problems along with other things

1. piston rings, had 4 new rings put in the car,was lucky enough not to score the bores one breaking the other ones so rings for each pot and a simple hone fixed the engine, question is the car is about to go back on the road boosted, how do people suggest running them in. after weeks of reading conflicting posts over and over i have decided to do 500 miles (still on base map) drop the oil, then new filter and better oil in. anybody think this is a bad idea?

2. oil catch can, once again read for 3 solid hours and had conflicting storys of how its done, read some interesting methods but none to answer me, question is can i take the inlet for catchcan from the pcv valve into can and then return to the rocker cover pipe on the front? do these pipes need to be a certain size? (was going to use an10 pipes/fittings) and then also just block off the intake.

3. so this is the stupid question, non the less need to be asked for piece of mind, do i run the vtec along side the turbo or do what i have done and blank it off? and just run it like that, reason why i have done it was i had read on a build thread that it had needed to be done for conflicting interest.

i also have more questions about vac line set ups, however i have not yet read much on these so will more than likely ask a question then unless someone can point me in the right direction, cheers

1. fine
2. Some catch cans work, some don't. Do it right and it's good. Do it wrong, and it's a waste of money at best.
3. Don't mess with VTEC!

Personally i would break it in without the kit and then install the kit.

To answer your question about how to connect a catch can, you should understand what the two lines are doing. Then you can develop a solution that works.

First, the pressure inside the valve cover should be about atmospheric pressure. The vent line near the front of the valve cover keeps it there. It is connected to the intake just after the air filter where the air pressure is near atmospheric or it is vented to the atmosphere. A catch can can be installed in this line to catch the oil before re-entering the intake system or venting to atmosphere. Air can go both ways in this tube if the PCV line is left uncapped so it should have a filter on the end (either the main air filter if recirculating or a dedicated one if venting to the atmosphere).

The PVC line has a one way valve that only opens when the pressure inside the intake manifold is less than the pressure inside the valve cover (which should be near atmospheric). This line then sucks the oil vapors from the valve cover into the manifold to burn them when operating part throttle (cruising down the highway, idling etc.). A catch can can also be installed on this line to keep these vapors out of the intake. Or, this line can be caped off and all the vapors will go out of the vent line.
