Default SOS SC Kit

Hello FI Guys

I have a SOS Stage 2 kit on my car currently, I am debating changing over to a FMIC and ditching my aftercooler.

The water pump for the aftercooler is shot, its making tons of noise. One of my friends mentioned to check for a air bubbles, no dice on that

Any one have an idea of where to get a replacement pump besides SOS? I am assuming this is a universal fish tank pump or something similar. I have yet to have the chance to remove the bumper and take a look at it.

I understand I will loose 1 to 2 PSI going to this over my after cooler but from what I have been reading its possible to have some gains in the long run when you start talking about heat soak. I can always change the pulley to get the desired boost levels. I am not going for world records here I am fine with 8 to 10 pounds of boost.

Also anyone know of a company that makes a FMIC setup for the SOS kit? I am assuming I can order a bracket to mount the blower from comptech of possibly vortech to adapt over to work with this kit.

I appreciate everyone's ideas of input on the matter.

Thanks
Nik

I would just replace the pump. You can get a universal one from Bosch for like $100.

Most Fmic will lose 3-4psi. Which means you have to max out our blower speed just to get some boost. Its not an efficient system for the SC. And your blower will wear out quicker. Spend the money on an upgraded heat exchanger and pump through SOS if you don’t already have it. Money better spent.

I believe the pump supplied with the kit is a Johnson unit, at least the Base kit -- not sure if the water pump differs for Stage 2 or not.

I think it's a CM30?

A larger pump is used/recommended in combination with the larger optional heat exchanger. I'm not sure if the larger heat exchanger is part of the stage 2 package, I don't think it is.

I have the larger heat exchanger, I know they use a larger pump with the stage 2 kit as well.

Thanks for the input guys!

Ill try and find you that like but yes those pumps can be had for well under 100

I have the upgraded SoS water pump and I believe it is (22.5L) ~6.5GPM being its the CM10 22mm I believe, you can get a larget one, of course, for a better flow rate for nearly same price a retail SoS pump costs.

The eBay link is for the CM 30 which rated for 8 GPM.

Sorry but this made me

Maybe a "Big Johnson" unit would solve your problems.

Sorry again - may be a Southern thing.

First off if you do go with a FMIC like others had alluded you will see a reduction in boost to the tune of 2-3PSI. If you would like to make this up you are going to need a new pulley.

If you do not mind this then a FMIC is not a bad choice. Personally I prefer a Air to water setup for the street and FMIC for the track. If you do some research you can get some more details and come to a decision that best suites your wants and needs.

The UR kit will bolt up to the SOS just like a Comptech. Just drop them an email and I am sure they will be happy to help you.

If I ordered the tuner kit + upgraded heat exchanger does that mean I get the bigger pump? What's the model number of the bigger one.. I will check mine when I receive it so I don't have to take the bumper off again if it shits itself.
