Precisely.

OP as long as idle and partial throttle is good I would be doing your "tuning runs" in third. If u could tune timing I would say a lil fourth to; to try and load it up.

No timing tuning on this base stage 1 set up.

SOS had me confirm the light sequence in the fvm and it was wrong so I'm gonna send it back for a reflash. Thanks for your input JawKnee!

I'm bummed that you also had a bad FVM, but I'm glad that you're going to get a replacement. Please keep us posted once you get the new FVM!

SOS said it had correct flash sequence when they fired it up and told me it may be a power up wiring issue, vtec wiring, low oil pressure, or a fault. I'm gonna need to do some diagnosing

Is it safe to take off oil feed to supercharger and turn the car on for a few seconds to see if I am getting flow there? It looked kinda dry when I opened the feed line but that may be because I haven't started it up in a week.

The oem vtec unit is comprised of two circuits, the solenoid and the pressure sensor. If either one isnt working or not reading pressure to engage vtec, a cel should trigger. Ive had both of these fail on me in the past, each with a different cel number, taking the guess work out of it. Also if you were getting no oil fed to the vtec unit, you would be getting no oil to the blower either since its after the vtec unit, meaning the blower would have been starved for oil and trashed which it doesn't sound like it is.

Here is a video I shot of the car accelerating in 3rd.
It is hard to see but there is a lean spike when viewing frame by frame to 13.8:1 at 6200rpm. I saw this consistently in all my videos and it has reached as high as 14.8:1.

I am trying to get another unit to test out from SOS. Another forum member steven975 had this issue and it was fixed with a replacement FVM.

Definitely insist on getting a replacement FVM. Since there have been a few of us that received a defective FVM, I wonder if they keep on passing around the defective unit? As I mentioned in our exchange, my defective FVM's light sequence indicated that it was good or functioning properly but obviously that was not the case.

I actually didn't see the lean spike in vid as you described it. A slight spike isn't a problem, a big lean sweep is. One thing I did notice though was there was no perceivable vtec hit/sound at normal/stock 5900 rpm which is one indicator that doesn't mesh with the theory on fvm not working, the other is I notice the afr gets leaner from 12.6 at 3k ish to 13.5-2 from right around 4k rpm where the fvm/vtec is supposed to kick in. Not running a working fvm before, I cant say how much fuel duty they have programmed in right at vtec transition, but leaner sweep would be a normal visual indicator that vtec has engaged otherwise, because of the increase in air consumption from the larger valve opening. I have this issue on my set up and have to increase fuel pressure across the board and trim via neo everywhere else to get safe fueling. It would be nice if you could get your hands on another known working fvm to see if there is any change from your current. That ultimately will tell you if something is indeed wrong with yours. Right now I'm still not convinced based on what I'm seeing/hearing. So you really need another unit to test.
