Quality isn't always efficient.

Here's the first installed pic from my application, I have to say that it wasn't without a series of issues. Please read after the pic.

There are two serious problems with this manifold. I've already let Branden at Horsepower freaks know and he's addressing it with the manufacturer.

1.)There's no other way to say this than to just come out and say it. This manifold will not fit into this car without modification. There is just no way because of interference from the wastegate. Let me tell you that I'm not running anything rediculous here. As you can see its a simple 38mm Tial wastgate. That's as small as they come. We had to choose between modifying the flange so the WG would protrude at an angle, or grinding down the nut attaching the manifold to the motor. We went with option 2 and I think it will work. Regardless Steed Speed needs to know about this defect and fix their computer model.

2.) My turbo didn't fit without trimming a piece of casting trim off of the motor mount. The frame is one thing but the motor mount is another. However I've been assured that it shouldn't affect the reliability of the part. My turbo is a t3/t4 50trim turbonetics piece. The manufacturer claims a gt35r will fit without any modification. Keep in mind my turbo is smaller than that. Although I'm willing to concede it may get tucked up into the wrong places.

This is why these items should be tested before being put up for sale. I'm getting in contact with horsepower freaks and steed speed about getting a redesigned piece or being refunded my costs for the additional modifications.

There is a bright spot in all of this. The car was ran for maybe 15minutes total today. And I'm loving the way that the manifold is discoloring!

This may be true but look at the options. Either hand fabbed, hand cut then robowelded, or cast. And cast is not as bling as this. I must say it looks good.

[QUOTE=Kwando,Nov 4 2007, 08:32 AM]nice setup, this is a little off topic, but what did you use to cover the a/c lines?

I took it to my mechanic who was very impressed with the quality of the manifold...

we have one problem though and it's that we don't think the wastegate (38mm tial) will clear the head, if it doesn't I'll make sure to contact steed speed and ask them why it was built this way...
I run this manifold with a 44mm no problem (simply chucked the adaptor flange and welded the v-band). I used to run it with the 38mm from Tial though no problem.

been getting a couple members that wanted to see more steedspeed manifold pics...

first of all, a picture of what were dealing with, winter has been rough, lots of time at the shop and couped up all day because the roads aren't dry

I really can't wait to relocate the battery

overhead of manifold, notice a torque dampener works, its a nice bonus

heres the joint for the turbo and manifold,

hot side clearence and downpipe

cold side clearence, no cutting of course and about an inch left for a loarger compressor, it's tight near the oil filter though so you will need a relocation kit
