Default Sugestions for boost loss - new install CTSC

Ok i got he car dyno'd today and the results were somewhat disappointing - 237 @ the fly wheel ;-(

Which is good in the sense that the car pulled quite well in the first place but seems the car is only boosting 0.23 bar/ 3.3 psi at 6250 rpm which suddenly dies off to nothing!
0.23 bar/ 3.3 psi @ 6250rpm I think is right for the ap2 pulley? So i am pretty sure i dont have leaks. ESM is soldered in.

What ive done over the last day;

* replaced all the sprung clips with jubilee clips
* checked all the routing for all pipes
* tightened belt to a satisfiying "twang" tension wise (1/4 turn on the largest drop)
* couped up crankcase vent hose to kit rather than atmosphere
* freed air control valve 26" hose as in section 4 of install - pipe was completely squashed by aftercooler

Any ideas appreciated! Thanks
Dave

your boost curve is not linear enough, it seems. i suspect a loose/crappy belt. what kind of belt are you using?

also while you're down there be sure to check the allen bolts that screw the pulley onto the crank pulley. the could be loose, and you don't want that problem.

if all of that checks out, you might want to consider checking the supercharger for shaft play and possibly opening it up and checking the seals/gears/bearings and such.

Hi,
Im using a goodyear gatorback - which was new, the belt itsself wasnt as tight as it is now and i havent been to the dyno yet, but before i waste a few more bucks i'd like to eliminate the other possiblilities!

(its quite hard to find places to try 3rd gear pulls to the redline in London! to see if its actually worked though)

Its a nice day so i off outside to check it all out !

Hi Dave, Just a thought! check the ESM i'm sure this has something to do with it, remember when the wiring was done we had a problem with the plug looking upside down like this one:

Now because i just followed the coloured wire's as the numbers where not correct, this could be the problem!

i doubt the ESM is the culprit. most of the time the ESM will either throw a CEL and/or put the car into limp mode when it is wired incorrectly.

check for boost leaks in the piping. are you aftercooled? intercooled?

yank that supercharger belt off and replace it with something else.
are you sure it's the right size? check the FI FAQ for proper sizings.

while the belt is off, check the crank pulley. make sure the piggy back pulley is on tight WITH THREADLOCK (some of you remember the post from about a week or so ago...). be sure the pulley itself is not rubbing on any bracket/hardward/vac lines.

which brings me to vac lines - CHECK EM! make sure they are routed correctly and are the way they're supposed to be. are you running a boost gauge? where is it routed? perhaps stick it somewhere else to check for leaks.

that's i'll i've got for right now. let us know what happens!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the car make NO boost if the ESM was loose/wired incorrectly? Mine was incorrect the first time I installed it and right as the car began to build boost, the engine would hesitate (almost like you tried to VTEC when the car was cold)

Did you ever dyno the car before the SC?

Hi thanks for the help!

Yes this install is aftercooled

Belt is new gatorback 4060395 for an ap2 pulley

crank pulley is never coming off its been loctited in many moons ago! No rubbing either.

Dont have a boost gauge, but would install one if others had suggestions which to get ....

all the connections look right and the car runs fine and has never thrown a cel.
