Is there a different Comptech kit for the F22 / 04 motor? If so, how is the kit different?

[QUOTE=xviper,Jun 27 2005, 04:12 PM] I've listened to several other Vortech cars and several Comptech cars.

Pulley size has chaged for peak boost at a lower redline.

[QUOTE=crockey,Jul 5 2005, 07:43 PM] 1.If I get the Comptech kit with AC, what small mods can I do to increase the output without doing any engine tuning(I don't have anyone locally to do this in central Indiana )Is it as simple as getting a smaller pulley?

2.When upgrading the Vortech, is it as easy to do as the Comptech?

[QUOTE=Slows2k,Jul 5 2005, 08:15 PM]At the last meet I was at (05 SESM) the Comptech cars seemed quieter than the Vortech one. I've also have a fair amount of hearing damage from being around loud machinery for some years.
Or maybe I had too much of this

Xviper, thanks for the quick answers. Can you tell me one more thing? Is the AC upgrade really worth it for the Comptech? I think I will probably just run the stock SC setup after reading your reply. I am going to have Hardtopguy install everything, but I am having a hard time justifying $1k for it. I could spend that on some Tein Flex and Defi gauges. In your opinion, is it worth it? Or should I only get the AC if I plan to upgrade in the future? Thanks!

I hate to be placed on the spot like this but here goes. I've always considered the aftercooler as insurance. I bought the Vortech mainly for the lower cost but I also got it because it was the only one of the two at the time with the A/C. I wanted that insurance for long term reliability. I'm not preaching that these kits are not reliable without the A/C since Comptech had been running in a lot of cars before they came out with it. Personally, I just wanted the cooler intake temps for that little bit of safety margin, but that may just be in my head.
Comptech makes a very good, reliable kit even without the A/C and their history in S2000s have proven this. Since you've already said you are thinking about a smaller pulley, an A/C might not be a bad idea to widen the envelope for future tinkering. I suppose you could alwasy add the A/C later if you do decide to go for more power.
A thousand bucks is a lot of money for insurance. Only you can make that decision.

there is something that interests me. see how much info you guys have layin around. i met the guy who has the very first vortech kit on his car. he was at the anniv meet. and we spoke for a few about its attributes. (he beat me to having the very first one, as i emailed the hell out of vortech).
they complained that the car was very lean through the upper RPM range, under boost. so he has an extra injector, on his car, just after the AC, right in front of the throttle body. they added it, saying it was necessary. i thought this was a wicked idea, as i love adding extra injectors to achieve my goal.

Q#1. what did comptech do to remedy this? did they see the same characteristics?
Q#2. does anyone else who has the vortech on an 04, have this injector?

i noticed a big difference in all the dyno charts ive seen, as to the 2.2 picking up alot more torque from the blower install. i likes!
anyways. later dave

I don't think the vortech comes with a black box like the comptech, maybe thats why it was running lean. I don't really understand the injector in the throttle body idea but maybe I just don't know.
