Remember those were just open header movies, add a SC and it'll be a good amount louder.

so basically:

if i 1) don't care about the sound and 2) tune for it, i should be able to run open header or open test pipe without any issue other than loss of some low end pickup? i have 4.77 gears so my low end is pretty good as is.

Basically yes, but your only talking about a couple extra horsepower up top; not nearly enough to warrant it unless your at the track and need an extra .0001 on your 1/4 mile time

IMO, open header sounds like crap. I wouldnt do it unless it is a track only car.

my car is running VERY rich as is. anyone who's been near my car can smell it. it was tuned when my boost gauge was reading 6psi but now i have an old, wrong-sized belt/messed up tensioner pulley and i added an aftercooler so i'm only making 5psi. so i don't think that the extra leaning of running open header will lean it to the point where it's dangerous...

so maybe i'll run it open header for a little just to scare some innocent bystanders and make a few vids to post

cops around here haven't even turned a head when i drive by them, and my car stands out A LOT and is pretty loud as is. all they really care about is whether you're driving like an ass/speeding or not. so it shouldn't be a problem.

you forgot to mention you will also lose our hearing it will be god awful loud. and could possibly resonate in certain rpm ranges to the point you will get a headache

have run an h22 open header, a 18t jetta open downpipe, been near a crx with open header, crx open downpipe, and they are all loud. if you were turbo, i would say sure get a cutout and spool faster and gain some power, but your sc, do a test pipe and be done with it. no need to be that loud!

i took off the midpipe of my invidia v2 because i didn't feel like dealing with complications with the o2 sensor. down low it sounds like ass. seriously, it sounds so nasty and raspy. like a very powerful lawn mower. but once you get above 3,000rpm it's deep and bassy. but it is STUPID loud. just to give an idea of how loud it is...i took it out on the main road in front of my neighborhood and gunned it to redline through 3 gears...my friend works at the country club about a mile down the road...i saw her about an hour later and she said that some insanely loud car pissed off all the golfers and they were complaining about it, LOL. i passed by some lady inside her car and she took her hands off the steering wheel to cover both her ears and she had a look of such anguish in her face, LOL. it felt faster, though. oh yeah there's ZERO drone inside the car, even though outside, it sounds like 10 s2000s with invidia all at once. it's less annoying than driving with an exhaust on, but i think it's too much of a public nuisance to DD.

i will try to post some video soon

you are missing a small part which Spec_Ops2087 said. When you have SC on the car is makes the exhaust 2 times liouder. If you run open header with a SC kit, it will be a lot louder than those on youtube.

One time I sold my Spoon to get a T1R 70 Single and I had to drive open header for one day. I couldn't pass 2500rpm and normally I like it loud
