you don't even need an after market clutch with mid 300whp.. flywheels are ridiculous mods, imo and i would prefer NOT having them.
I sure hope you mean that you would prefer not having a *lightened* flywheel.

And why is it that you think "flywheels are ridiculous mods"?

Driveability suffers with light flywheels... but I like my cars to perform, and if Im stuck in traffic for awhile, I either suck it up, or drive a different car next time.

surely you dont mean the s2k? the stock clutch can not hold 230+rwtq. you are living in a dream world.

and the ap1 flywheel is far from too light. it makes an ap2 drive the way it shoulda from the factory

[quote name='camuman' date='Dec 27 2008, 12:26 AM'] the thing is, why choose 400whp, 300-350 is hella quick.

lol, sure the stock clutch will handle 300whp I guess my bone stock all-motor S has more power than 300whp because a highway 4th to 5th quick shift will slip the clutch. even without the CDV I have to shift slow to hold. the clutchmasters stage 3 is awesome, if you got into a car with one you wouldn't even be able to tell it wasn't stock from the pedal pressure. you would know it's not stock after being able to shift quick and not have it slip at all

and a flywheel isn't a "rediculous" mod, not sure where you get that from. it's definately not more rediculous than a turbo or supercharger kit which is what the topic is about

I think this is bad information. If you're clutch is good and you know how to drive, then the clutch shouldn't be slipping, unless you are talking about the normal action of the CDV.

took the CDV out, my stock clutch after 27,000 only holds if I shift on the slow side. I don't know anyone with an AP2 and a stock clutch that doesn't slip, CDV or not. brand new I'm sure it would be ok for a while, but the CDV accelerates the wear like crazy.

the heavier flywheel coupled with a weak pressure plate = clutch that wont hold on a quick shift or with boost. mine with 25k on it would slip on a quick shift even after i took the cdv out. you have an ap1, your flywheel weights less so its less weight for the pressure plate to slow down.
