Best advice, if you only have a grand here and there don't waste your money on upgrading a car out of all things; save it.

if i could rewind the time, i would have bought the kit and 2.5 motor i have now, it would have saved my prob 10K in money.....save until you are sure that is what you want

i had the money when i did mine but also realize wut u expect out of your car. if you really think you'll be satisfied with 350-400 than go ahead spend the 10k and ull be good. But if your an idiot like me and you want more and more spend it the right way the first time and it will save you loads of money. I went freaking sc (kw) when i should have went turbo b.c 350 whp was fun but i want more more more now. Now i want to find other ways to get power and it is costing alot more than if i just when a full race kit with a 2.4l built motor originally

its not the motor he has to worry about, its the drivetrain
yeah... i agree.. but HE was the one to mention about building the motor... i was just repeating what he wrote.

ofcourse its the drivetrain that goes first. UNLESS you just have a SHITTY tune.

then your just SHIT out of luck.

what kit are you referencing? revhard...
a good turbo kit is 6k. full-race...etc etc.
im sure if you had hook ups, you could get a kit assembled for 4k, but good luck. for the avg joe, 35r kit....6k.
i had an AWESOME kit for my price.. 2500 bucks new plus the other stuff like fuel and ems.. costed me around 4 grand.. i made 301whp at 9 psi... ball bearing 50 trim t3/t4 from turbonetics...i dont see whats so bad about that?

ball bearing t3/t4 turbonetics turbo
750cc RC injectors with clips
255 walbo high flow
godspeed intercooler kit with downpipe
type rs greddy bov
revhard mani
tial 38 mm wg
guages +misc
aem ems 1052UEGO *used*

all for around 4 grand..

couple hundred to tune and i installed myself.

and if i wanted more... all i had to to was add a 3mm hg, crank boost and tune..

dont see why you have to spend 6k.

you get better mpg with a turbo and it's the only way to go. everyone with SC will consider going Turbo soon or later. turbo lag is yesterdays news. Nice cams and some other goodies and your spool time won't be that bad.

Even if you get new the breakdown roughly is:

1. turbo kit- 4000-6000
2. Clutch & flywheel- 1000
3. 3mm HG- 300
4. Gauges- 500
5. EMS- 1300
6. Tune-500
7. Clutch Install-400
8. HG install- 500

thats 8500 right there. and thats if you install your own kit
Now for the SC cost

VTSC (polished) 5300
Clutch/Flywheel 900
AEM EMS 1400
AEM Wideband O2 750
Gauges 500
Tune 500

Total wihtout install 9350. this should put you down at about 310-350 at 8lbs. of boost. depending if you got I/H/TP/E. And the tune of course is a big part. Well that is what i am paying. But i am getting it installed cause i like my car to run. So i wont be doing it myself

i think you meant nice turbo mani will eliminate the awful spool time.

full race mani ftmfw.

butttt, its all about your power goals. he said 400whp max, so yuo can do that with a kick ass turbo kit and a 30r.

the thing is, why choose 400whp, 300-350 is hella quick. sheesh, 350-370 in a s2k is 115+ traps!

you don't even need an after market clutch with mid 300whp.. flywheels are ridiculous mods, imo and i would prefer NOT having them.
